This wiki shows the 2021 iGEM project, PsiloAid from The University of Southern Denmark. This year, inspired by the project of the Sydney team from 2019, we chose to work with the synthesis of psilocybin. We were inspired by the great potential of psilocybin as a novel depression treatment strategy, and we wanted to help facilitate further research in this promising area. Therefore, we decided to focus our project on lowering the price of psilocybin for research use and thereby increasing the accessibility.
We also investigated the challenges of depression outside of the lab and encourage anyone who is feeling blue to visit checkpoint.org
