Exhibit and presentation at

2021 HELEXPO International Exhibition

The team participated in the 85^th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF Helexpo), as part of the of the Democritus University of Thrace booth in the Academia, Pavilion #14.

HELEXPO Thessaloniki International Fair is the greatest exhibition event in Greece. This year’s event, the 85^th annual gathering, was held with physical presence between 11 and 19 September 2021 and has reported more than 87,000 visitors.

There we had the opportunity to communicate concepts and goals of the project and the iGEM competition (along with video and banner) to a number of policy makers:

 •   Greek Minister of Education, Ms. Niki Kerameos
 •   Greek Deputy Minister of Education, Mr. Aggelos Syrigos
 •   Rector of Democritus University of Thrace, Prof. Alexandros Polychronidis
 •   Vice Rectors of Democritus University of Thrace, Prof. Maria Michalacopoulou
 •   Mayor of Alexandroupolis, Mr. Ioannis Zampoukis

and to numerous other stakeholders including Company CEOs, start-ups, researchers and the general public.

During the 9 days of the exhibition, we engaged with more than 350 visitors and communicated biology and synthetic biology concepts via the survey, our educational tool, our project presentation and open discussions.

The team participation was disseminated via press releases (see press release screenshots below) and reached the media (Interviews in the media ATLAS TV – DELTA TV).
