In today's society, the use of social media has become a necessary daily activity. Social media is typically used for social interaction and access to news and information, and decision making. It is a valuable communication tool with others locally and worldwide, as well as to share, create, and spread information.For this reason, our presence in social media was strong and continuous since the spring of 2020. We managed to gather many followers that applauded our content and engaged with us frequently.

Our team’s representation can be found in social media through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn. Our role in social media is to raise awareness about the iGEM competition and Synthetic Biology, as well as to show our work and actions to the public. We also followed a more fun way of spreading knowledge and engaging people with the use of little quizzes, fun facts and famous quotes about science, activities proven to have helped people learn more effectively. We are proud to have achieved our goal to share knowledge, while actively interacting with the public, with the use of social media.

To bring attention to biology and sciences via participation, we created more than 70 science quizzes and published them on the team’s social media. To create an integrated fun experience for the public, we added science fun facts and famous science quotes. The aim was to draw public’s attention to science and increase knowledge and understanding via short participatory sessions.

We also created a series of quizzes for our audience to answer through our Instagram stories feature. Once the duration of the stories ended, we posted the answers to the quizzes so as to educate people.
