Ioannis S. Vizirianakis


PI | Ph.D., Associate Professor in Molecular Pharmacology and Pharmacogenomics

Ioannis S. Vizirianakis currently serves as an Associate Professor in Molecular Pharmacology and Pharmacogenomics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), School of Pharmacy, Greece. Moreover, he is visiting Faculty at the University of Nicosia, Department of Life and Health Sciences, Cyprus. He received, for his work in research and education, numerous international (Cancer Coordinating Committee of the University of California at San Francisco, USA (1998, in research), the Simycyp Academic Award (2019, in education) and from the University of Nicosia (2021, in research), and national awards (from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (20 awards in research and education and contribution to society throughout his career). He has been theme/associate editor and editorial board member in 8 peer-review journals and as reviewer in 32. In 2014 he edited the “Handbook of Personalized Medicine: Advances in Nanotechnology, Drug Delivery and Therapy; Pan Stanford: Singapore. He has been member for several years in the national drug regulatory body (EOF) and also in 15 organizing/scientific conference committees. He has been supervisor in 7 PhDs, 32 MScs and 42 diploma theses. As supervising and/or examination committee member, he acted in 26 PhD and 32 MSc theses. He also served as external evaluator for PhDs in Universities abroad (Warsaw, Poland; Sidney, Australia). Moreover, he has been PI/collaborator in 36 national/international grant awards and funding proposals, as well reviewer-evaluator in funding bodies for several years (EU, Greece, Cyprus, NASA). He has also authored 103 research articles published in international peer-review journals (Scopus), as well as 52 research articles in Greek scientific journals. He has also been invited speaker in 65 scientific national and international conferences, whereas additionally he contributed to more than 110 scientific meetings.
