Shark Sha, The most important member of the team!

Connor is our team leader and has led us to complete and improve our project. His fascination towards experiments drives him to design and conduct the key Aptamer experiment, and helps with others. Besides, he participates in human practice and has contributed a lot to all aspects. But I think he likes Shark Sha much more than the experiments (he naps with him every day(whispers)). Nevertheless, he has contributed a lot to our project.

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

The nausea, the pain, the headache, the sicknesses you bear, with the pandemic happening over the world now — I know this year couldn't get any worse for you. But I wish you all the best, and I hope you can stay optimistic to keep looking for new meanings in life.

Jerry is another leader of us and has played a key role in human practice. He constantly keeps up with our progress in human practice and helps us to improve. Besides, with fixation on experiment, he has participated in several experiments and helped other groups to conduct related research.

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

I will do my best to contribute to this area and hope that every patient will recover soon!

Alice is a diligent student and colleague, who consistently produces great ideas for the education and the human practice part of the project. Moreover, she has shown her leadership skills when starting our club for synthetic biology in school. She also took part in the cell room experiment and cultivated cell for a period of time. Overall, she has been making a lot remarkable efforts during the whole project.

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

I know you have suffered a lot, but please be optimistic for there is always hope and a way!

Albert is a conscientious colleague, who led the PLGA lab part throughout the whole project. He is also keen to learning new knowledge and skills on Biochemistry related subjects, this has sharpened his skills on lab works and improved his efficiency. Moreover, his diligence also assisted his lab works in the cell room.

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

We are trying to make a difference!

Phoebe is good at planning experiments and keeping contact with professors from SUSTech, which contributed a lot to our liposome lab part. Her excellent drawing skills also helped with our art design throughout the project.

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

I know you were worried about how you’d look when you lost your hair during chemo. But honestly, you look just as beautiful as ever. You’re beautiful in a different way, but you’re still you.

Vince is a diligent member of our team. He puts a lot of effort into computer science-related parts throughout the whole project. He also put his diligence in the cell room experiment and promotional video filming which had so far paid dividends. All in all, without Vince, our wiki couldn't have been as excellent as our wiki now.

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

Your bravery and courageness while fighting the breast cancer is simply remarkable and invaluable. Medical sciences these days can already prolong your lives to those of normal people's, and we sincerely wish and hope our project can contribute even a little to the propsperous community of medical sciences.

Gigi acted as a leader of part of the experiment and made correct decisions. When some teammates asked her for help, she was always calm and friendly and worked hard to solve problems for us.

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

Dear all girls, don’t panic if you unfortunately get breast cancer, as your family, the organization and researchers will be much better than you expected; we will all stand behind you, fighting against disease with you. Just remember take care of yourself, and regularly check your breast health.

Tim is a very industrious and talented member of us. With his talent in Maths, he contributes a lot into modeling. His focus , enables him to conduct experiment successfully with scrutiny . Overall, he has brought a considerable amount of effort into our project.

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

Believe in Science, believe in your community, believe in us, and most importantly, believe in yourself. We will fight and win this war together!

Jasmine is a colleague who has a lot of experience in this competition and thus has given this team a lot of useful advice. She plays a very key role in human practice and she has contributed a lot, incorporating interview,education ,etc. She also participates enthusiastically in our liposome experiment .

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

I would like to say that I wish breast cancer patients do not give up hope of surviving. Be optimistic, have hope in life and be positive with your treatment. With the advancing technology,one day, I think we can beat the disease together.

Tom is a diligent and enthusiastic teammate, who participated in several groups of experiments and coordinated with the tasks of education. He also has exploited his interest in board games to design a series of cards, helping us to popularize knowledge of breast cancer to the public.

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

If you ask, can you and your project wipe out breast cancer, our answer, definitely, no. But please, don’t look away, trust me, our new drug delivery system with aptamer and nanoparticles really brings a new opportunity. Wiping out breast cancer? We are always on the way!

Anthea is a very artistic member of our team and has a lot of skills that most of us don't have, such as shooting videos and drawing. She has contributed to our promotion video and other parts related to photography. Besides, she is considerably adept at drawing and contributed a lot to our art design.

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

Live passionately! Believe in your strength and patience, and we are always with you.

Russell is a colleague who constantly gives out ideas of modelling during the project. He is also very committed, whenever the project needs him, he would stand out to undertake the task. Moreover, he is keen to learning new things during the modelling and the PLGA lab part.

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

Follow doctor’s instruction, be positive to life.

Sunny always finishes her mission quickly and coordinates different tasks well. She is excellent in communicating with different stakeholders and always gives out insightful suggestions. Most importantly, she hardly makes mistakes in the face of problems and never rush on things, ensuring the high quality of her work. It is a pleasure to have someone like sunny in the team to work with because she is the one who worth the trust.

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

After giving interviews to some breast cancer patients, I discovered that most of you were optimistic about your life. It is happy to see that you hold such a positive attitudes and continue to enjoy your lives. And I think one day much better and cost effective treatments will come out and benefit you.

Annabelle is a dedicated and responsible teammate who are always concentrated on her tasks and took in charge of tasks whenever possible. She is also a proactive person since at most of the time, Annabelle is the one who initiate group discussions and encourage our team to be more involved in the project.

What do you want to say to breast cancer patients?

When I see you all holding a positive view in the face of this big enemy, I understand the strength in you that as women, you know how to fight back the dark side and the unfairness of the world. You embrace the bad luck with smile and optimism, and I wish that this unfortune could be a precious part of your life, giving you a second chance to live and to enjoy. Some of you may not be able to pass this, but as long as the world proceeds, we are all dedicated to finding you the best solution to live once again.

As a senior student with social sciences background, Annie utilizes her inter-disciplinary knowledge to improve the research methods during human practices, such as the quantitative questionnaires and qualitative interviews.
