Promotion Video

To make the promotion video, we divide the procedure into different stages. In the preparation stage, Gigi was responsible for the construction of the script. After we discussed with teachers ( Tianxiao Chen and Yiming Chen ) who were professionals in film making, we ensured the logicality and fluency of our script and content design. After that, Gigi, Phoebe, Connor, and Anthea finished drawing the storyboard. At the same time, they also played the role of the Location Managers. Anthea, Alice Yao, Alice Zhen, Gigi, Phoebe, Annabelle, and Sunny were responsible for preparing the costume, make-up, and props. During the shooting of the promotion video, Albert, Tim, Tom, Vince, and Jerry were involved as the actors. Student advisor Max played the role as the voice actor. Yiming Chen, Phoebe, and Connor were the directors of the video, while Alice Zhen and Alice Yao acted as the Art Directors. In addition, there were Yiming Chen, Anthea, Max, and Alice Zhen acted as the photographers. Russell and Gigi were the boom operators of the team and Yiming Chen was the designer of the lighting. Jasmine and Sunny played a role as the Clapper-Loaders of the team. After we finished shooting the promotion video, our team entered the editing stage. Russell, Connor, and Phoebe edited the video, and Anthea was the Colorist. Furthermore, Connor, Max, and Anthea constructed the background music and mixed the sounds of the video, as well as the Foley.

Interview

During May, the whole team held an interview with Professor Qiu to discuss the availability of our project. After we determined our focus, Anthea and Sunny visited Doctor Nong who was a professional in curing breast cancer, learning the current situations about breast cancer and patients in China. After that, Annabelle, Anthea, Sunny, and Annie immediately consulted Doctor Zou for more detailed facts, situations, and treatment methods for breast cancer. In mid-June, Vince, Connor, Phoebe, Gigi, and Jerry had another interview with Doctor Qiu to learn information about the Cell Room. At the same time, Phoebe, Gigi, Anthea, Jasmine, Alice, and Sunny invited Professor Wei to instruct the modification of our protocol of the liposome experiment. In addition, Russell, Jasmine, and Anthea interviewed three pharmaceutical companies respectively, which offered us abundant information about the current situations of the industry. After we visited the Pink Ribbon institution that is devoted to caring for and supporting people with breast cancer, we had another interview with Doctor Lu, discussing the detailed therapies about breast cancers.

Education

In July, the team constructed several communications with the Pink Ribbon Organization in order to get a deeper view of the situations of China’s breast cancer patients. Sunny, Jasmine, Annabelle, Anthea, Annie, and Connor held a meeting with the operators of Pink Ribbon, discussing the significant roles played by the organization and how it could help and benefit breast cancer patients. We also reached a consensus with the Pink Ribbon that making a documentary that included interviews with patients was the best way to inform the public about such a disease. In August, Annie, Anthea, Annabelle, Sunny, and Jasmine made an interview with three convalescent patients. Yiming Chen provided our team with technical supports. After we finished the interview, we coincidentally met Ms. Lucy, who enthusiastically offered us a lecture about women’s health. The whole team joined the lecture and discussed. Tom and Connor also designed breast cancer card games, including the knowledge of synthetic biology. In mid-August, Alice and Connor provided a lab tour and ran our iGEM club at school, wishing to spread the influence of synthetic biology. Jerry, Albert, Tim, and Tom offered lessons for the club members. In addition, Albert, Jasmine, and Annabelle were responsible for making the questionnaires.

Integrated Human Practice

Art Design

Within the construction of our wiki page, Phoebe and Gigi designed all of the head pages. Anthea and Alice, at the same time, were focused on painting the illustrations for the contents as well as the production of breast cancer card games. Anthea and Connor designed the logo of our project and Connor was also responsible for making the CCiC poster. We also received help from a friend in SCIE; she helped design the logos for each part of our main page, special thanks to Elena!
