Collaborations

In the course of this year's competition, we have actively communicated with other teams and worked closely and beneficially with them. The cooperation covers Human Practice, Wet Lab, Dry Lab and other aspects.

Our team also actively participated in various regional meet-ups to share our projects and work experience.

On the basis of team collaboration, we have developed close Partnership with several teams. For more information on this part, please click Partnership.

Team Cooperations

NWU-CHINA-A

We had in-depth cooperation with NWU-CHINA-A mainly in the field of Human Practice and Experiment.

Our team invited NWU-CHINA-A to have an joint interview with Prof. Xu Dan concerning the techniques in Microbiology, especially some notices of experiment design. In addition, together we made popular science picture books to elaborate our projects and set some street-stalls to publicize that synthetic biology really has great significance.

NWU-CHINA-A helped us with plasmid construction and order of several reagents. As partners, communications about team management and experiment design also benefits both. View our Partnership for more.

We cooperated closely with NWU-CHINA-B team at the beginning of the project. We shared Parts of the two teams and experimental methods, and also communicated with each other on team management, risk decision-making, experimental planning, etc.

We assisted NWU-CHINA-B to complete their modeling work. For more information on Modeling with NWU-China-B, click Modeling.

We have further established partnership with NWU-CHINA-B. View Partnership for information about this.

NJU-China

Due to the pandemic, it is impossible to go to other cities to consult the experts. But thanks to NJU-China’s help, we got the chance to have a wonderful online interview with an experienced neurologist in Nanjing. In return, We helped NJU-China get in touch with a pulmonary physician in The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University, who provided great suggestions for their project concerning respiration. We were glad to help each other perfect the projects.

View Human Practicefor more information on the interviews.

BUCT

In the cooperation with BUCT, we found that our aim product(tryptophan) have a close relationship with their product (5-hydroxytryptamine). Based on the similar application mechanism of tryptophan and 5-hydroxytryptamine, we discussed the specific application of these two substances in the treatment of insomnia. In addition, the process of producing of these two products and the need of them in the future market are quite similar. As a result, we designed a set of questionnaires together using the same logical structure and assist each other in the distribution and collection of questionnaires. We analyzed the statistics using the method we developed together and shared the results.

View Human Practicefor more information on the questionnaires.

NPU-CHINA

The team members of NPU-CHINA shared with us the experimental experience of fragment assembly, and introduced the experimental methods such as in-fusion and homologous recombination one-step cloning. This information gives us more options and speeds up our experiments. We also shared our modeling experience with them and specifically explained the suicide modeling mechanism of XJTU-China team in 2020 iGEM to help them better accomplish their modeling tasks.

ICJFLS

We assist them to accomplish the experiment of SDS-PAGE by sharing our experiences and techniques.

Conferences&Meetups

Northwestern China iGEM Meetup
May 5, 2021

In this meeting, each team shared the result of brainstorming and exchanged the direction of topic selection. As a participant, our team delivered a presentation in which three alternatives of our topic are showed. We received several beneficial suggestions, and some mistakes in our projects were pointed.

We also help other teams improve their projects. In order to solve the problem of dye attachment of NWU-China-A, we put forward the idea of analysis and optimization using phase equilibrium distribution theory. Also we actively participated in the discussion after each presentation, sharing our ideas of topic selection and improvement measures.

During this meetup, we have established Partnership with NWU-CHINA-A and NWU-CHINA-B. Based on the common ground of project title and implementation, we discussed the direction of future cooperation and preliminarily drew up the cooperation plan.

China iGEM Online Meetup
May 29-30, 2021

We shared our project with other 42 teams by participating in the project presentation. We also attended the lecture A Cloud Lab for Biodevelopers, in which we gained a lot experience and advice in trouble shooting and experiment design.

The 8th Conference of China iGEMer Meetup (CCiC 8)
August 27-29, 2021

We participated in CCiC 8 online, giving a presentation to share our project and taking part in voting for Best Presentation. We received several suggestions from the judges of CCiC, which benefits us to improve our Human Practice. We also communicated with other teams in discussion chatroom, further introducing our project or learning more information of other teams.

Xi'an Alliance Meetup
September 21,2021

Xi'an Alliance Fig.7 Group photo under the landmark of Xi'an Jiaotong University

We organized the meetup with NWU-CHINA-A and NPU-CHINA. We visited each other's campus and entered the laboratory. We listened to the difficulties encountered by each team during the experiment and put forward suggestions for improvement. Through communication in the laboratory, many problems in experimental operation were found and solved, which benefits each team to carry out subsequent experiments.

Partnership

Based on team cooperation, we have further established close cooperative partnership with NWU-CHINA-A and NWU-CHINA-B. At the beginning of the establishment of the teams, we kept close communication with each other, shared the topic selection, design scheme, literature, experimental arrangement, experimental operation and other work content, and proposed improvement measures to each other.

We also carried out mutual assistance in Dry Lab and Wet Lab, including sharing of resources and data, completion of parallel experiments and technical assistance.

In addition, the iGEMers of the three teams also formed a strong friendship. We had a variety of social activities to promote our friendship. While cooperating in iGEM project, we also exchanged our experiences in study and life outside the competition.
