Janella is a 4th year Applied Animal Biology student. First joining iGEM as a high schooler in Peru, she became fascinated with how synbio could narrow the gap between natural and manmade systems. She hopes to inspire this same enthusiasm for bioengineering in others.

Dr. Steven Hallam is a professor with the Microbiology and Immunology department at the University of British Columbia. He is also the director of the Ecosystem Services, Commercialization Platforms and Entrepreneurship (ECOSCOPE) program.
