Founded in 2014 by André Herman, the Synthetic Biology Club (CBSin) is an academic organization linked to the University of São Paulo, Lorena campus. At first, it all started with meetings of a study group among friends, however, over time, more students joined the Club's purpose and integrated the entity.
CBSin is composed of a student group whose mission is to develop and disseminate knowledge of synthetic biology in the university and social sphere. In this way, through the elaboration of projects, the entity aims to reduce barriers between academia and society. In addition, in 2016, the first team within the Club was created to participate in the iGEM international competition. From that moment on, the two groups started to work together, helping each other. All iGEM team members from the years 2016, 2018 and 2021 were also part of CBSin.
Through commitment, teamwork and determination, the Club aims to become a reference for scientific dissemination and inspiration for the development of new synthetic biology nucleus in Brazil.
We dream of one day being the bridge that connects Brazilian science and society!
