Tiana Salomon

Team Leader

I'm Tiana and I am a senior studying biomedical engineering. I am from Germany, although I have moved a lot thorughout my life and lived in multiple countries. Biomedical research and bionegineering have always been my passions and by joining iGEM I got the opportunity to work with a group of students that are equally motivated as me on a project of our choice to try and have an impact locally and globally. iGEM allows me to work on science from a perspective in which political and geographical barriers do not exist and inter-personal barriers are tried to overcome.

Whenever I am not working on iGEM or enjoy some free time I love to spend time with friends, to go on a hike or to cook/bake. However, I also enjoy more quiet moments that give me time to just listen to some music or read a good book.

Anca Frasineanu

Science Manager

Hi! My name is Anca and I am double majoring in Chemistry and Molecular Genetics, with a minor in Math. As a rising senior eager to start graduate school, iGEM seemed like the perfect way to spend my summer because it allows students to come up with an idea and design a solution using synthetic biology, with minimal help from professors. The independence we had from the very beginning and the struggle of finding the best protocols for our experiments are my favorite part of iGEM, as well as working with a highly motivated group of students. During my free time, I enjoy latin dancing, going to the beach with friends, biking and baking. I also love swimming but I don't do it too often.

Tracey Moyston

Lab and Safety Manager

I am a rising senior studying biomedical engineering with a concentration in cell and tissue engineering and a minor in biology. I am from Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia, a tiny island in the Eastern Caribbean. I am part of the iGEM competition because I wanted to have the opportunity to lead my (the team's) own project and apply my engineering skills to a project that has a tangible product which has the potential to have a global impact. In my free time I enjoy reading, biking, hiking, swimming, and binge-watching TV shows.

Lab and Safety Manager

Ena Haseljic

Hardware Manager

My name is Ena and I am from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am majoring in Molecular Genetics and Psychology, and I joined iGEM to expand my knowledge and skills in lab, amd to work in a team of students and together find a solution to a problem of our own choice. My favourite parts of the project are stepping out of my comfort zone and learning more about subjects I am not exposed to in my classes, like hardware and modeling. In my free time, I like to play volleyball, dance bachata, bike, travel and make a trip to the lake with my friends.

Hardware Manager

Irina Ter-Ovanesyan

Human Practices Manager

I am a rising senior majoring in biochemistry and Spanish. I am the policy and practice manager for our team and also part of the hardware and video teams. In my free time, I like to play the guitar, workout, and, when possible, explore different cities with my friends!

Blaine Dillingham

Modeling Manager

I love doing two things that iGEM gives me a gratitude-worthy opportunity to get better at: answering questions and solving problems. Curious to a research-rabbit-hole level, I enjoy improving my skills of reading scientific literature through seeking to answer specific questions for iGEM. It's an impactful way for me to fuel my love of learning. As for solving problems, my favorite way to do this is the quantitative way. I love math and physics because of my tendency for first-principles thinking, and being Modeling Manager for our iGEM team has challenged me to concretize the idea of mathematical relationships between variables in the form of Regression Analysis. In my free time, I enjoy playing casual sports and tabletop games. I am energized by other people, with whom I love to discuss how we can design a better world.

Muskaan Vasandani

Software and Design Manager

I'm Muskaan and I'm a rising senior. I'm doing iGEM because its a very unique experience in the way that we get to start and finish a project in about eight months, and that it's a student led project. It's extremely challenging but I think that's what makes it fun too!In my very limited free time I like to paint, run, read and cook.

Software and Graphic Design Manager

Amanda Adams

PR Manager

I am from western Massachusetts and enjoy spending time outside skiing, hiking, biking, and swimming. I'm a member of the university's varsity track and cross country teams and when I am not in the lab or on a run I can be found either spending time with friends, eating, or reading for fun.

Adela Yan

Collaboration Manager

I am doing iGEM because I think it would be interesting to design and conduct a whole project all by ourselves, and also great to be able to apply my knowledge and work with a group of intelligent students. In leisure, I love building LEGO, cooking, baking, and covering kpop songs.

Collaboration and Video Manager

Daniel Nakamura

Wiki Manager

I'm from Wilmington, Delaware (about 30 minutes south of Philadelphia). I'm a chemistry major at the university of Rochester, and my favorite part of IGEM is getting bacteria to do the work of synthesizing compounds for me. I joined IGEM because I was interested in the field of synthetic biology, and I wanted to see how it compared to (and could integrate with) synthetic chemistry. When I'm not running gels or washing rGO, I enjoy baking, running, and reading.

Wiki Manager

Nikol Pritsky

Fundraising Manager

I'm doing iGEM in order to learn more about the field of synthetic biology research, to become more competent in bench techniques, and especially to focus on our human practices inclusivity project. In my free time, I enjoy running, hiking, and watching movies.

Fundraising Manager

Maria Schapfel

Outreach Manager

I'm Maria and I am a junior majoring in Molecular Genetics. I'm from historic Lexington, Massachusetts (about 25 minutes outside of Boston). I wanted the chance to participate in iGEM because I loved the idea of being part of a student led team that worked together find and help solve a real world problem using synthetic biology. It is cool that by working on our project I have learned about topics and practiced skills that I would not have necessarily learned about or done otherwise. In my very sparse free time, I enjoy running, hiking, reading, cooking, and eating donuts.
