Team Members

PI
Wenming Zhang Associate Professor of College of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Engineering He has focused on the characterization and modification of proteins, engineered a microbial system for the production of bio-based chemicals via metabolic network alterations, and explored the elements for enhancing the tolerance of microbes to abiotic stresses. At present, he has published more than 60 SCI papers in Biotechnology Advances, ACS Synthetic Biology, and other journals.

Guannan Liu Associate Professor of College of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Engineering I'm been dedicated to clarify the mechanisms of yeast cell fusion and its synthetic biology application in large genome transfer. Meanwhile, we also apply the genetic circuits in medical area.
Fengxue Xin Professor of College of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Engineering He has focused on the utilization and biotransformation of low-valued biomass such as lignocellulosic biomass into value added products, design and regulation of artificial multicellular systems. He has published 67 SCI papers in journals including Trends in Biotechnology, Biotechnology Advances, Biotechnology and Bioengineering, ACS Synthetic Biology, Biotechnology for Biofuels, and Applied Environmental Microbiology. He has authorized five patents in China.
Ziyi Yu Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Nanjing Tech University He is also a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge. He received his PhD from the Nanjing Tech University in 2012, where he worked with Prof. Su Chen. He was then a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Cambridge working with Prof. Chris Abell on droplet-based microfluidic reactors for the supramolecular assembly and single-cell analysis. He joined the faculty at the Nanjing Tech University in 2019, where his main research interests focus on developing granular polymer materials for biological applications. His honours and awards include the Jiangsu Specially-Appointed Professor, the Cambridge University Entrepreneurs 1K Award, Nanjing Recommended Outstanding Talent, and the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation in Jiangsu Province.

Because I have loved biology since I was a child, I also like my major. In the igem project, I am responsible for the part of the Experimental.
