Our PIs

Dr. Saravanan Palani

Dr. Saravanan Palani is an Assistant Professor at the Biochemistry Department at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. He is a synthetic biologist and one of the primary investigators of our iGEM project. His lab focuses on deciphering the mechanistic regulation of eukaryotic cell division. He is our go-to person for all things syn-bio related. He has been a pillar of support through the ups and downs of our ongoing protein purification journey. You can always rely on him to help troubleshoot and boost morale when experiments aren't working.

Dr. Samay Pande

Dr. Samay Pande is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. He studies bacterial prey-predator interactions. He is also one of the primary investigators of our iGEM project. He has always welcomed and supported the iGEM team and has been of great help in our cellulose production aspect of the project. Samay believes that as long we know how to proceed, we are making progress whether our experiments work or fail.

Prof. Dipshikha Chakravortty

Professor Dipshikha Chakravortty is a Professor at the Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. She is a medicinal microbiologist by training, and her lab works on uncovering Salmonella pathogenesis and host-pathogen interactions. She is a primary investigator of our iGEM project. She has been involved with the past iGEM teams from IISc and with our project from the very start.
