Education and Communication
This page describes the education and communication efforts undertaken by our team. The former Chief Scientist of the UK, Sir Mark Walport once said, "Science is not finished until it's communicated". As responsible scientists, we have adapted various tools to communicate our project to the general public and educate them about synthetic biology and its diverse facets. The following section serves to provide glimpses into such outreach activities undertaken by our team.
Overview
As undergraduates, we have first-hand experienced the jump from textbook to doing science and research. This jump has inspired us to take our science to the public and engage in various forms of science communication initiative.
In order to inspire more people to contribute to synthetic biology, we have undertaken various measures to produce quality educational content targeted to a diverse group of audience. We have continuously aspired to better the quality of our educational resources by incorporating advice from educators and students.
Besides educational content, communication is paramount in education. For the success of one's attempts to educate others, one must go beyond mere lecturing and apply a broad range of communication techniques, so as to make the learning process a continuous dialogue instead of a monotonous monologue.
