General Support

In addition to creating the implementation strategies for different parts of the project, the Principal Investigators also helped in troubleshooting and providing their inputs at different stages if our project, they also provided moral support to us. They were always ready and eager to help us. Besides all this they also helped us order all the required materials and allowed us to use their laboratories for our lab work:

  1. Dr. Saravanan Palani (Department of Biochemistry, IISc) helped us in the cloning, designing of fusion proteins and protein production strategies. He helped us design the protein sequences and allowed us unfettered access to his laboratory for this purpose. (He also treated us to late night dinners when we had to stay till night in the lab!)

  2. Dr. Samay Pande (Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology, IISc) helped us in the production of Bacterial Cellulose sheets and provided us lab access in this regard.

  3. Prof. Dipshikha Chakravortty (Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology, IISc) helped us during brainstorming and reviewed our progress routinely. She provided us with new ideas to troubleshoot our project and kept us motivated throughout the entire duration.

We are also thankful to Dr. Jayanta Chatterjee (Molecular Biophysics Unit, IISc) and Prof. D N Rao (Department of Biochemistry, IISc) for helping us troubleshoot the various problems that arose during protein purification. We would also like to thank Prof. Praveen Chandra Ramamurthy (Department of Materials Engineering, IISc) for helping us with production of microcrystalline cellulose sheets from powder and Dr. Saptarshi Basu (Department of Mechanical Engineering, IISc) for helping us with a potential hardware design.

Besides attributions for helping with the technical aspects of our project, we'd also like to thank Prof. P S Anil Kumar, the former Dean of the UG Programme and the current Dean of Administration and Finance, and Prof. B R Jagirdar, the current Dean (UG), for helping us with the financial and administrative aspects of our iGEM project. We would like to specially thank Mrs. Nandini AP (Office of the UG Programme, IISc) and the entire UG Office at IISc for their financial and administrative support as well.

Lab Work Support

We would like to thank some of the members in every lab where we worked for helping us out extensively with our project. They helped us learn the various laboratory techniques and this would have been very difficult without their help.

  1. Synthetic Cell Biology Lab: Anubhav Dhar, Bindu B, Penchalayya
  2. Bacterial Ecology and Evolution Lab: Saheli Saha, Sukrit Suresh, Bhoomika Bhat
  3. Molecular Pathogenesis Lab: Abhilash Vijay Nair
  4. Organic NanoElectronics Group: Sutripto Khasnabis
