Collaboration
The goal of the Grain-fed+ team is to improve monogastric animal feed so that they will be able to digest None Starch polysaccharides(NSP). This can improve the digestion and absorption capacity of the animal, and help them to stay healthy. The Ceres group (Shanghai_Metro_HS) is mainly focusing on silage for ruminants or polygastric animals. They added genetically modified bacteria to the feed as a silage additive to promote the appetite of livestock, prevent and treat some common gastrointestinal diseases of livestock, and improve the quality of livestock products.
Since there are similarities between our projects, we communicated with each other and conducted some activities together.
After exchanging knowledge with the Ceres team, we found out that both of us were concerned about animal digestion and absorption system. Both of us plan to improve feed utilization to realize enhancement of animals’ digestion and absorption. However, the most significant difference is that we are working on different feeds. Therefore, we decided to provide help and suggestions to each other through cooperation, ranging from questionnaire survey, entrepreneurship plan, experiment procedures and etc.
OOn August 20th, our team leader had a meeting with the Ceres group. To advertise our projects together, we came up with various plans, for example, offline public speeches, workshops and lectures. However, considering the Covid-19, we had to give up the idea. Instead, the Ceres team made a video and published it on Bilibili, a video-sharing website in China. After two hours of discussion, we finally decided to direct an original play with hand puppets and share it through the internet as a video.
Let’s watch our co-produced promotion video!
