YiYe-China Foundation
Introduction:
This year, YiYe-China received over 10000 RMB (about $2000) from the community. We are very grateful to people who strongly support our group! Without them, it would be difficult to carry out our project. We used part of the funds to purchase team clothes, posters, brochures and spent some on team-related areas. Subtracting all the expenses, we still have $1000 left.
YiYe-China Fund History
Despite our financial success, we still remember how anxious we felt when we first tried to raise money. Unlike the college-track which their schools offer funds for the team, we were completely on our own. We worried that people would not pay too much attention to us and were not willing to donate money since we are only high school students.
As YiYe-China went through such a difficult period, we decided to donate the rest of our money to the future iGEM high school teams. Understanding the difficulty in managing a team without enough budget, we want to help the future teams and ensure that their projects are not limited by the financial restraints.
YiYe-China Fund Policy
YiYe-Chia is proud to offer funds to the ambitious iGEM high school teams who demonstrate strong passion and dedication in iGEM competition and who have no other funds resources. YiYe-China will grant selected applicants a financial award for their compelling involvement in biology, environment, natural science and other social activities related to iGEM. Applicants must submit their application via the YiYe-China Findation Application Form.
To apply, write an essay (up to 1500 words) focusing on why you are choosing your projects and how you envision the implementation in the future and send them to yiyeigem@163.com. The check for the awards will be sent directly to you.
TOTAL AWARD AMOUNT: Each applicant could get at most 1000 RMB （$155).
APPLICATION DEADLINES: All applicants must submit their forms and their essays prior to June 1st.

We are iGEMers and we are never afraid
Ideas behind the lyrics
It was a coincidence that our team thought of this idea. We were watching The Avengers, and at the end the theme song got our attention. We realized iGEM did not have its own song. We were a little bit surprised, since iGEM is such a grand international competition. Therefore, we decided to write a song talking about this competition. When we were writing our lyrics, it was difficult to put our thoughts together. There were so many different tracks in iGEM---it was impossible to incorporate all of them. After some heated discussions, we decided to put our experience in it. It was our team’s first time participating in iGEM, and we still remember how our teammates gathered in Wuhan this summer to do the labs, how we had to do virtual meetings because of COVID, how there were so many things we needed to learn, to do. Though everyone was exhausted, we cherished the unique experience we had. And most importantly, we, as students, never gave up. Facing challenges, we tried to solve them, seeking help from other experts or doing research; feeling down, we supported each other, cheering people on. We were willing to try everything, because we are iGEMers and we are never afraid!
