Pim van Beeck
Finance Manager
Hey everyone! My name is Pim van Beeck, and I am a first-year MSc Nanobiology student. I grew up in Brussel and moved for my bachelor's to the Netherlands. During my bachelor's, I spent a lot of time learning fundamental concepts and studying books. The TU Delft iGEM team has allowed me to apply my knowledge and see the science used in the bigger picture. This year I will be the Finance manager, which means I am responsible for the interactions with our sponsors and that we can afford everything to achieve our goals.
Miriam Cammaert
Human Practices Manager
Hi everyone! My name is Miriam Cammaert and I am a first-year MSc Life Science & Technology student. As this year’s Human Practices manager, I will talk to various stakeholders and adapt our project accordingly. I see iGEM as a great opportunity to set up a project from A to Z with a great team and to try to solve a real-world societal problem with synthetic biology. In my spare time, I enjoy reading a good book, doing sports, or spending quality time with my family.
Minke Gabriëls
Science & Safety Manager
Hi all! My name is Minke Gabriëls and I am the Science and Safety manager of this year's iGEM team. As science manager I will keep track of the activities regarding the overall science. This makes it really fun, because in this way I am involved in a lot of iGEM suspects such as Wet-lab, dry-lab but also human practices. In addition, I will also take care of the safety of our project within the lab and also more future related topics like safe implementation of our product in society. In my free time I like to do sports and hang out with friends. I am enjoying the whole iGEM experience!
Koen van Gent
Hardware Manager
Hi everyone! My name is Koen van Gent and I am a third year Nanobiology student. My main priorities within our project are the modelling of our genetic circuit and the development of the hardware. One thing of the things that I like so much about iGEM is the diversity of perspectives within our team, which leads to interesting discussions and important insights. I like to spend my free time by playing on my guitar, reading or listening to some music, or by going outside for a walk in the woods.
Riko Kuriki
Wiki Manager
Hi everyone! My name is Riko Kuriki this year's wiki manager studying in the MSc Life Science & Technology program. I was born in Japan and raised in several countries. During my bachelor studies in Japan, I have been intrigued by the potential synthetic biology holds, which led me to take part in iGEM to further explore the world of synbio through many perspectives! As a wiki manager, I will be in charge of building our homepage that you will be able to visit in the near future. When I am not working on wiki or iGEM you can find me in the lab or I will be taking a stroll around the city.
Milou van Nederveen
Outreach & Public Relations Manager (Part time)
Hey all! I am Milou, 22 years old and the Public Relations & Outreach manager of the iGEM TU Delft team. My role involves education, social media, media, and collaborations with other teams. In daily life, I study the MSc. Applied Physics at the TU Delft, with a focus on biophysics, quantum theory and field theories. My bachelor degree “Technology and Liberal Arts and Sciences” at the University of Twente, was a very broad study program with a lot of freedom and focus on skills and project work. Through iGEM, I also found back my passion for education and teaching.
In my free time, I play tennis, do climbing, and go to the gym. I also love to travel, go for adventures and be in nature. Other things I love: coffee, my plants & being with my friends.
Boyd Peters
Dry Lab Manager
Hi! My name is Boyd Peters, and I am in the fourth year of my bachelor's degree in Nanobiology. Once I had set my first steps in Delft as a student, I knew I wanted to be part of an iGEM team someday. The field of synthetic biology is fascinating, and the possibilities are endless. This year I will be the dry lab manager of this fantastic team. I will be responsible for the proper alignment of the dry lab modules with the wet lab experiments and that our findings are properly relayed back to the wet lab. When I do not have to work on iGEM, you can find me walking outside listening to a podcast, hanging out with friends, or doing some programming.
Federico Ramirez Gomez
Graphic Design Manager
Hey there everyone! I’m Federico Ramirez, a 25-year-old Mexican currently studying the MSc Life Sciences & Technology at the TU Delft in the Netherlands. I joined iGEM wishing to be part of a diverse team excited to explore the possibilities synthetic biology has to tackle current humanity’s challenges. I’m the graphic design manager in the 2021 TU Delft team. This means I work around the image of the team, science communication aspects and social media. For this I work with the totality of the team in order to find the best way to illustrate and communicate the different areas of our project to the iGEM community and the general public. However, I like getting involved in other areas of our project, too. In my free time, I love cooking and trying new places to eat (I love spicy food), I go for walks with music, and most recently I started to practice bouldering.
Laura Sierra Heras
Wet Lab Manager
Hey everyone! My name is Laura Sierra and I am a first-year MSc Life Science & Technology student. I grew up in Spain, in a village called Laguna de Duero. For my bachelor’s degree, I moved to Madrid, where I studied Biotechnology. During my studies, I discovered the beauty of synthetic biology. And this is why, from the moment I decided to study in TU Delft, I knew I wanted to be part of the TU Delft iGEM team 2021. This year, I am the Wet lab manager, which means I will be responsible of the Design > Build > Test > Learn cycle of our experiments. If you do not see me in the Lab, you can probably find me in the swimming pool, cycling or running.
Mathijs Verhoev
Team Leader
Hi all, my name is Mathijs Verhoev and I am a double master student Life Science and Technology and Management of Technology, at the Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands. This year, I am the Team Leader of our amazing iGEM team. I joined iGEM because I am excited to work on a big synbio project with fellow students. I have always enjoyed my courses on synbio and I think we can learn a lot from it to realize a more sustainable future. Solving social issues through the platform that iGEM is offering me was another reason to join the competition. My role as Team Leader is to lead our amazing team to victory. I have always had a call for leadership, and there is nothing more I enjoy than seeing the satisfaction of the team when we accomplish something together. When I am not busy with iGEM, I like to read, be in nature, meditate, and do yoga or sports. My goal for this year is to put our team in the spotlights during this competition, and I hope that we can share many of these moments with you through this social media platform.
Loulotte Waling
Strategy Manager
Hi everyone! My name is Loulotte and I am a first year Master Life Science & Technology student, where I follow the biochemical engineering track. This year I am the strategy manager of the TU Delft iGEM team. Since my bachelor I have wanted to join iGEM especially to experience first hand how to set up such a big synthetic biology project. As strategy manager it is my task to ensure we meet all medal criteria and deliverable deadlines. When I am not working on iGEM I enjoy playing sports and hanging out with my friends. I am very excited and eager to bring this year’s project to a great succes with our amazing team!
