DESCRIPTION

Preface

The strength of our project is the use of light as a signal to induce microorganisms to produce dynamic fragrances. In order to bring our project to life, we wanted to design a microbial fragrance night light. Let people be in use night lamp while, experience different fragrance in quiet night, fall asleep safely in the company of fragrance.

Night light

The skeleton of the microbial night-light is a cylindrical night-light.

Superstratum

Its upper layer is a detachable cover containing a fan, with an air inlet at the top and an air outlet at the side. The fan is used to speed up the flow of gas above the vent of the fermenter, so as to speed up the exchange of gas between the inside and outside of the fermenter and make the fragrance spread faster.
We designed a trapezoidal groove with an inward sag on the side of the lid, and set the air outlet at the bottom of the groove, and set a baffle just below the top air inlet. We hope that these designs will reduce the influence of external light sources on the interior of the night light.
At the bottom of the cover are three metal joints that can be inserted into the corresponding interface in the middle of the night lamp for connecting the circuit and closing the night lamp.

Middle coat

The middle layer is a cavity consisting of three pillars and a filter film wrapped around it, which houses the fermenter. The three pillars are hollow and contain internal interfaces for wires and circuits that can be combined with the top cover. The filter is yellow, it can filter blue light, the night light inside and the environment can not pass through the blue light. In this way, the blue light in the environment can not only affect the fermenter inside the night lamp, but also avoid the adverse effects of the blue light emitted inside the night lamp on human body.

Substratum

The lower and middle layers are fixed together, and the connecting part of the two layers is a luminous surface used to induce microorganisms in the fermenter.
The lower layer is also where the integrated circuits are located, the batteries, ports for external power supplies, and switches are located.

Product Parameter

The overall diameter of the night lamp is 10 cm, the wall thickness is 2 mm, and the height is 17 cm.
The upper level is about 5 cm high (most of the upper level is reserved for culture bottles and gas exchange), the middle level is 8 cm high, and the lower level is 4 cm high.
Fan thickness 1 cm, 0.05A, noise less than 20dB.
The middle strut is 5 mm in diameter and 8 cm in length.
The filter is made of PVC and yellow, which can filter most blue light.
The integrated circuit is equipped with LED lamp, rated voltage 220V, rated power 0.2W, color temperature 6000K, light flux 24 lumens.
Shell material: smooth white ceramic.

Fermentation cylinder

The mouth of the fermentation tank has two LIDS with a filter film (0.22μm) on the outer cover and a pointed nozzle tube containing the bacteria pack below. There is a gap between the outer cover and the inner cover, and the pipette is suspended slightly above the inner cover. The inner cap is an aluminum foil sealing film for sealing the culture medium in the fermenter. Remove the protective device, press the outer cover, make the outer cover and the inner cover completely solid, the sealing film in the fermenter is punctured by the sharp tooth at the bottom of the outer cap, the dry powder bag of the strain in the interlayer falls into the water, gently shake the fermenter can start microbial fermentation.

Product Parameter

The diameter of the bottle is about 9.3cm and the height is about 8.5cm.
The height of the bottle mouth is 2.5 cm and the diameter of the bottle mouth is 2.7 cm.
The fermentor has a volume of approximately 400 ml and contains 200 ml of dedicated liquid culture medium.
The inner cover is 2.9 cm in diameter and 2.1 cm in height.
The inner diameter of the outer cover is about 2.9 cm and the inner height is 2.6 cm.
The length of the tip tube is 0.5 cm, and the height of the protection ring is 0.5 cm.
Fermentation tank material: high borosilicate transparent glass.

Summary

Our design makes it very easy to use, without aseptic operation, to mix the strain with the culture medium and start the fermentation system. On the other hand, our setup is very simple, with only two parts, the night light and the fermenter, to achieve all the desired functions. Our philosophy is to simplify, not to let the buyer think they are buying a large laboratory equipment.
In terms of safety, microorganisms in the fermenter cannot leak out of the fermenter into the environment and external microorganisms cannot enter the fermenter due to the use of a lid made of filter membrane, thus avoiding the need for antibiotics and strains with resistance genes. In addition, the use of a filter cover does not prevent the spread of fragrance from inside the fermenter.

Product appearance

After plugging in the power adapter, the fan lights up and turns on. Control the switch of the fan and the light through the mobile APP In-app configuration

Product Introduction: WiFi dual-channel relay based on ESP01 controls the SWITCH of LED lamp and fan respectively by using mobile APP through TCP protocol. 2P socket connects to a power adapter to power the night light. In the structural design, the upper cover is set with fan air inlet and outlet, and the upper roof shading part is designed so that the light does not overflow from the upper roof, and the upper cover is set with rotating buckle, which can easily replace the fermentation tank in the lamp. Light filter film is set on the lamp wall, which can filter blue light and help sleeping.
