Collaborations

Overview

During the pandemic, we established cooperative relationships with other teams mainly through online communication. Through online communication, I hope we can learn something from each other.

1、Communicate with SZPT-CHINA

This year, our team communicated with SZPT-CHINA on experiments and social practice for many times. At the beginning of the exchange, the two sides held in-depth exchanges on the experimental light controlled genes, and shared their resources in the exchange group. In the follow-up communication, our two teams also held in-depth communication in terms of questionnaire and education. Due to the influence of Covid-19, our team could not stay in school for experiments, but SZPT-CHINA shared their experimental results and invited us to participate in their lectures.

2、Communicate with FZU-CHINA

This year, our team and FZU-CHINA exchanged views on popular science education seminars for high school and college students, and formulated specific implementation plans and popular science popularization topics.

Due to the needs of the epidemic prevention and control work, our science promotion activities for Fuzhou No. 2 Middle School are temporarily shelved. The offline presentations for Fuzhou University continued as usual, and we jointly completed the poster design, prize procurement and other related preliminary work. Due to a different school, our team members were unable to enter the conference site. FZU-CHINA suggested that we make presentations in the form of presentation videos.

This presentation meeting is for the newly enrolled students of Fuzhou University in 2021 and students of all grades who are interested in synthetic biology. This conference has a total of more than 200 people. At the same time, there will be two teachers from the leading group of Fuzhou University. Of course, during this seminar, the students at the scene were active in thinking, actively asking questions and communicating, and the response was enthusiastic.

3、Communicate with NWU-CHINA-A

After the end of this year's CCiC, we and NW-CHINA-A conducted an experimental introduction and exchange of online Tencent conferences. The two parties discussed and cooperated on future experiments, modeling and HP. The two parties exchanged and learned about the experimental methods of their respective project teams in the E.coli cultivation part. In addition, Northwest University-China-A proposed to combine the characteristics of the two projects to develop a new process for co-cultivation of Escherichia coli, that is, to form a new process that can both dye and smell.

4、Communicate with SZ-SHD

Team:SZSHD/Collaborations-2021.igem.org https://2021.igem.org/Team:SZ_SHD/Collaborations

This year, after the end of CCiC, SZ-SHD took the initiative to contact our team. Before the official online project sharing and exchange meeting, we checked each other's project promotional videos and project presentation materials. SZ-SHD is very interested in our team’s cell factories that can produce fragrance. Since many enzymes often produce unpleasant odors in the application of degrading substrates, perhaps fragrances can improve this. They hope that our Bacteria can help them solve the chemical odor of their team's hair removal cream products.

In addition, SZ-SHD has designed a complete set of product packaging styles and gave us some suggestions and experience in product packaging design. Of course, they also invited us to participate in the offline social practice of physical enterprises to broaden the applicability of the project.

5、Communicate with Tongji_China

We want to apply our microbial aroma production system to many more areas. That's when Tongji_China came to us. Their project not only wanted to remove the smell from the wet garbage, but also wanted to synthesize the aroma. Therefore, after a brief understanding of each other's project, we started a long-term cooperation. At the beginning of the project, we discussed the design and delivery of questionnaires. We also learned relevant laws and regulations together. Later, we jointly held an online and offline science and ethics lecture. We learned how people in different fields think about synthetic biology. In the subsequent cooperation, we sent linalool to Tongji university. They wanted to react linalool with hydrogen sulfide and then detect the removal of hydrogen sulfide by High Performance Liquid Chromatography liquid chromatography.

Tongji also wants to grow our yeast with their E.coli. So we set up a co-culture model and calculate the optimum culture conditions. It provides a theoretical basis for the application of engineering bacteria.
