Social
A successful iGEM project requires much more than simple lab work. It is necessary to evaluate the impacts of the project socially as well as environmentally on multiple layers and access potential hazards. Further, scientific topics and especially synthetic biology should be brought to a diverse audience. By that, it is ensured that the project makes a meaningful contribution to the advancement of synthetic biology and education, and the development of an open community and collaboration.
Human Practices
Throughout the duration of our project, we have constantly been reflecting on the current state of our project to guide it in the right direction. This has been achieved through extensive contact with professionals from many different fields of expertise and constant research done by ourselves.
Education and Communication
Even with all the restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were still able to present scientific topics to a broad audience from kids to university students. To do that we came up with creative solutions on how to reach the general public while staying safe.
Partnerships
Through intense cooperation and thereby exchange of ideas, tipps, protocols and more with two other iGEM teams, we all were able to further pursue our aims and goals in many aspects of our projects.
Collaborations
Many smaller projects were accomplished through collaboration with iGEM teams. These projects mostly focused on communication with the public.
