iGEM2021_BIT-China conducted Science Popularization Activities on Bilibili website
In August 2021, BIT-China and BUCT-China jointly held an online science lecture. The two teams conducted science popularization according to the characteristics of their projects. BUCT-China conducted a science popularization lecture on artificial meat, explaining to the audience four modules including the development history of artificial meat, the synthesis process of cell-cultured meat, cultured meat vs. traditional livestock meat and cultured meat vs. plant-based artificial meat, taking everyone through the advantages and shortcomings of this field of artificial meat nowadays.
BIT-China let the audience understand synthetic biology systematically, explaining the origin and development of synthetic biology as well as the engineering characteristics and research scope of synthetic biology in easy-to-understand language, pointing out the foundation of the birth of synthetic biology, important discoveries and future development. At the same time, we explained the use of engineering ideas to solve problems in details, so that the emerging discipline of synthetic biology can be more deeply rooted in people's hearts.
