Scholarship Introduction I
2’fucosyllactose(2’FL), has been scientifically proven to be one of the most abundant human milk oligosaccharide(HMO) stored in the human colostrum, with an abundance around about two grams per litre, which is fed to the infants. It shall deliver beneficial effects to the infant’s wellbeing and growth development. Meanwhile, the new developed scientific researches have stated that administering the proper amount of HMO into the milk powder that the infants consume would significantly reduce the potential risk of the infants to be exposed to certain types of infections. Furthermore, the 2’FL is presented to have a potential to simulate the generation of beneficial bacteria inside the human body which functions for the functionality of human intestines’ barrier. Also, 2’FL is proven to have a crucial role in optimising the growth of infant cognition as well. Despite the benefits that the 2’FL would provide to the infants, in fact there’re only a limited amount of HMO could be acquired by the infants from the human breastfeeding. Till now, vast majority of the scientific field recognises that the compounding of the 2’FL is carried out in the E coli. However in some other researches that yeasts are presenting a more effective and rapid production for 2-FL.As per these, in order to ensure that the infants who are still in the lactating period would have a regular and enough-amount HMO consumption, we are dedicated to seek for a biological method to produce 2-FL, and then add it to the milk powder for infant consumptions.

First, from the perspective of rapidly promoting the experimental process, our team will buy a Bioreactor, which is a small fermenter, to grow bacteria more efficiently and safely. Second, from the perspective of post-promotion, our team plans to print some brochures to briefly describe the health benefits of 2 'FL added milk powder for infants, so that more people can get a good grasp of this product. At the same time, we also plan to go to remote or impoverished areas, donating our milk power with 2’FL to the mountains for free. Our goal is to let more children eat quality and safe milk powder and grow up healthily and happily. Certainly, before adding 2 'FL to milk powder, our products will also pass the inspection by China Food Safety Administration and get a series of certificates to ensure food safety, such as hygiene license and health food approval. In this way, more people will feel at ease to use our products and give us the most authentic feedback.
The ultimate goal that our team crews are pursuing after is to try to fight to thick and thin to achieve a biological method to mass produce the 2-FL sugar and add them to the universal milk powder and the infants’ food, in order to substitute the presence of the normal white sugar and eventually to achieve the universal wellbeing and healthiness of the infants.

The members of our team believe in humanitarianism. We hope that people in every corner of the world can live a healthy and happy life. As you know, it is very unfortunate that we are concerned that people in many parts of Africa are still suffering from disease and hunger. In view of this, our team members are eager to apply the results of our project to these poor areas to help improve the quality of local infant milk powder. We want babies and toddlers to be free from some of the most intractable developmental diseases...
