AWARDS

Grand Prize Winners

After 11 months of commitment and hard-work, we found out that we were not only in the top 10, not only in the top 3, but at the extraordinary first place of the undergraduate competition.

This is something none of us has dared to dream about. iGEM is such a difficult competition, with so many things that can go wrong (a good team, a good idea, good results, good presentations, good ratings…easy to say but how can one be sure everything will be OK?).

To complicate this, we were a small team of six students, we had to find the topic by ourselves, find the money by ourselves, do the experimentation by ourselves, and learn how to create wiki and movies…Despite all these, we did it.

Our final message to all the future teams will be this one: believe in yourself! Believe in what you do, in your team, in your project, in your capacities to accomplish the non-accomplishable, and who knows, one year, you will be the next iGEM winners!

Medals

We are delighted to announce that the iGEM Team Toulouse INSA-UPS has won a Gold Medal for its work this summer. This achievement truly shows our investment in the ELIXIO project.

Toulouse has succeeded in achieving a Gold Medal each year that it has participated in the iGEM Competition. We are proud to have upheld the reputation of this great team. We hope that our success will inspire future iGEM Teams to do their very best as well.

Nominations

Our project was honoured with several nominations for special prizes which are liste below.

Best Manufacturing Project

In recognition of our efforts on the project as a whole, we were nominated to the Special Prize for Best Manufacturing Project. This means a lot to us, as this track was very popular and featured many great projects!

Best Model

Modeling was a cornerstone of our ELIXIO project and was integrated at many levels, from experimentation to entrepreneurship. That's why this nomination rewards all the work we have done in the dry lab and means a lot to our team of modelers, Romane and Maxence!

Best Wiki

Previously, the role of "wiki person" was only assumed by a few foolish students, but this year, every member of the team participated in the development of each page. This nomination rewards the work done by our two wiki leaders Romane and Margaux, but also by the whole team. The wiki sessions were an opportunity to eat pizzas and we realized that HTML is much cooler than it seems at first!

Best Supporting Entrepreneurship

This nomination rewards the tremendous work achieved by our very best entrepreneur, Margaux. It was very important for us to make a huge and exhaustive effort to predict the viability and impact of ELIXIO in the real world. Calculating all the dimensioning of our project was a real challenge, that's why we are very proud to get this nomination!

Best Presentation

This nomination for the best presentation award is a reward for the hours of work we devoted to our videos. Our film-maker Manon and the whole team of actors put all their heart and energy into making videos that mix poetry, chic and technique to match with their imagination. Only one thing to say... ACTION!
