Team:Thrace/Entrepreneurship

Since the moment that we came up with our project, we couldn’t help but think about the bigger picture. We wondered for example how our project could be implemented in the real world and what impact it would have. We spent plenty of time considering these topics and redesigning our project in order to make its characteristics as satisfying and meaningful to us and to the world as possible. In the meantime, we participated with our project in various entrepreneurship competitions.

With our project Salica we participated in the Mindspace University competition where we won 2nd place! After 3 months of intensive training and 3 knock-out phases, among 300+ people who applied, 31 teams that were formed in the first phase and 10 teams that passed to the final, our research team won the 2nd place, announced by the US Ambassador of Greece, Geoffrey R. Payatt.

What’s more, we also won 1 totally funded place for Mindspace trip to the US, Boston and Silicon Valley startup ecosystems and a 20% discount for 1 more member of our team in order to pitch our projects to some of the most renowned ventures and angel investors.

Due to our distinction in the Mindspace University competition, we had the honor to get hosted by the incubation & acceleration center of the Athens University of Economics and Business, the greatest university of economics and business in Greece. There, we were provided with close mentoring from the specialized staff of coaches. Experts, scientists and mentors with great market and technical expertise were there to accelerate the product development and connect us with opportunities in the global market. We learned from Intellectual Property matters to marketing issues and established a solid network that will pave the way to make our project a reality.
