Dulwich International High School Suzhou was the sixth school to join the Dulwich College International family of schools. Its links to Dulwich College, founded in 1619, are strong, and we collaborate closely with the other schools in the network to encourage an international outlook and create an extended community where academic ability is fostered, creativity is valued, and diversity is celebrated. Since the early 2000s, the goals of Dulwich College International have evolved into a Vision and Purpose guided by three pillars, and underpinned by our motto, Detur Pons Mundo, building bridges to the world.
Bluepha is a synthetic biology and biomaterial company that is head quartered in Beijing, China and was founded in 2014, it consists of a core team of elite graduates from Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Chinese Academy of Sciences. The company uses synthetic biology techniques to make a biodegradable polymer called polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) out of seawater, and carbon containing industrial and domestic waste products. Its biodegradable polymer products are sold to companies operating in a variety of industries such as agriculture, packaging, industrial molding, restoration, 3D printing, and textiles. It also provides strong support to igem teams all over and aim to inspire the students with their experiences in synthetic biology.

Hi I'm Amanda! Kind of the "captain" of my team… I am in grade 12. I am an experienced foodie and baking lover. I'm not a big fan of movies, because when I was a kid, I was scared out of my mind by the Walking Dead. Favorite book is "photoped" (though the story is juvenile). I like to listen to European and American pop music, especially Britney Spears and Zara Larsson. My favorite biologist by far is Fredrick Griffith, sort of the seminal gene. IGEM was planted by Edward Wu, the last team leader. Thought the game was fun so come check it out! Welcome to chat with me.

My name is Mike, I am in grade 12. I am a Japanese anime lover + gamer. My favorite anime is JOJO and Chainsaw Man, and my favorite games are Sekiro and Red Dead Redmeption2. I also like to do some small chemical and biological experiments at home, such as plant grafting. I participated in iGEM because I thought it was a rare opportunity to have formal contact with biological genetic engineering, and the university would like to develop in this direction in the future. I'm better at programming than biology. As long as I can, I'm willing to help with any questions.

Hi, my name is Jasmine Nunns. I am an avid enjoyer of movies and tv shows, but nowadays I tend to be too busy with school to watch much. I was recommended this group and competition by our team leader Amanda Lin, as I find biology interesting. Over the summer holidays I spent two weeks in the bluepha lab and helped with the experiments. I have also helped with the artistic aspects of our project, by helping design the logo, packaging and directing our introduction video.
Bruce Mao (Experiment)
I am Yuanzheng Mao from Suzhou High School-SIP, China, currently in The Portsmouth Grammar School, UK. My English name is Bruce I am a big fan of sicentists (e.g. Albert Einstein, Eric Kandel and David Ealeman) and Leo Messi. With great interest in scientific research and Biology, I took part in IGEM. Being good at experiment is not easy. The most impressive point of this unique experience is to be patient with repetitive procedures. Otherwise I may not be able to make friends with the fascinating laboratory.

I decided to participate in IGEM because I personally have a good impression on biology, and I hope to decide whether biology is the path I want to follow in the future through this opportunity. My favorite book is The Mysterious Island. I have been fond of it since primary school.

Hi, my name is Lillian, and I'm a senior. I have been dancing for more than 10 years, including ballet, Chinese traditional dance, modern, jazz, and so on. I am a dog lover, and I have a Shiba inu and an Akita at home. I want to participate in iGEM because I am interested in biology and hope to have an in-depth understanding of synthetic biology. I love working in a team and is excited to learn things from others!
Grace Xiong
Hi, my name is Grace, currently a Y13 student at Dulwich College Suzhou and my favorite activity is classical singing, with my favorite opera being Verdi's La Traviata. I'm also a fan of horror games and frequently binge watch Amnesia playthroughs alongside German musicals such as the Count of Monte Christo, Dance of the Vampires and Elisabeth. I wanted to participate in iGEM because I've always had an unfulfilled interest in biology and valued the research experience. If anything, I hope that one day I'll get to work in an interdisciplinary field and do everything that I enjoy!
Tiger Jiang(蒋束修)
I’m Tiger Jiang. I am a grade 11 student. I have a lot of hobbies. I like raising stag beetles and rhinocero beetles as pets. I have kept more than twenty kinds of beetles. My interest in insects leads to my interest in biology. Studying biology makes me feel good and this is why I came to take part in the IGEM. I am also interested in watching football games and playing Rubik's cubes，they let me think about how our muscles move, this also helped build my interest in biology. Watching animation is also interesting, for it can make me feel relaxed.

My name is Julchen and now is a grade12 student in dulwich. To be honest, my name is quite difficult for pronouncing which becomes a nightmare for most of my classmates and teachers. I am a great fan of German and that why I chose this name. Besides that, I am also fascinated by Japanese animations and histories. I started doing chemical experiments since I was in primary school. Chemistry and biology literally attracted all my attention since then.I guess that’s why I considered to join IGEM.

Ziying Jin (Instructor)
Master of Integrated Biological Design (The Bartlett, UCL); 2017 iGEM Gold Award; Studied In the Institute of Nanotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She has conducted research on targeted capture of cancer cells by nanofiber membrane, SELEX based DNA aptamer screening and biosensor construction. During her master's degree, mainly studied the adhesion of microplastics in water by biofilm at the interface of textile materials and related design work. Her works have been exhibited in B-PRO, ARUP and Pompidou Art Center in France.
Murdoch Mackay (PI)
Murdoch graduated with a Bsc (hons) in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Hertfordshire in 2006. He worked as a Research and Development Scientist for Lonza biologics in bioassay development where he worked on the development, optimization and validation of cell based assays to determine the activity of anti-cancer therapies. Murdoch completed his QTS in 2010. He has been teaching Biology for 10 years and has been teaching in China for the last 8 years.
Cheng Li(Advisor 1)
PhD in Life Science, Peking University； Advisor to academic Committee in Bluepha；National gold medal in bio Olympiad；Team leader of 2016 iGEM Gold Medal of Peking University，Best Environmental Project Award. Served as the iGEM instructor of Peking University and the iGEM team instructor of high school for many years, he has won gold and individual awards many times.
Edward Wu (Advisor 2)
Hi this is Edward, the adviser of SZSHD in 2021 and the team leader of SZSHD in 2020. As the former team leader, it is indeed exciting to see the spirit of iGEM got inherited in my high school, and seeing juniors perform synthetic biology experiments and enjoy the concepts of it. I love how they brought up aqua-gel project as a way to implement keratinase in skin-care products, and hope they can give me one tube of it if they commercialized their project.
