In July, we collaborated with Team GA_State_SW_Jiaotong and attended the 8th CCiC (Conference of China iGEMer Community) in late August.

1. Collaboration with Team GA_State_SW_Jiaotong

On July 18th, GA_State_SW_Jiaotong and SJTang had an in-person meeting about the iGEM project for prior learning and communication. At the beginning of the meeting, both sides introduced their projects to each other. After discussing and exchanging opinions, both sides learned and were availed from the shared information and agreed to cooperate in many fields. First of all, some GA_State_SW_Jiaotong team members are in the United States. To help raise awareness on issues we want to tackle, they have included our project promotion video in their HP presentation. Also, we exchanged knowledge and resources for the construction of the co-culture model. We planned to build a mathematical model for hydrogen production from the co-growth of two kinds of bacteria. At the same time, they also need to develop a model to account for the growth of multiple bacteria. Both teams were helped in the discussion.

2. Collaboration at CCiC

Our team participated in the 8th CCiC offline; it is a large-scale iGEMer annual meetup in China, held by Fudan China in Shanghai this year. However, due to the COVID-19 epidemic this year, many teams can only participate online. During the offline activities, we communicated with many teams, such as and Team Tongji_China.

In the exchange activities, we learned about many new and exciting iGEM projects, and through this activity, we also obtained some opportunities for cooperation. On the second day of the CCiC event, when we communicated with Team Tongji_China, it was found that our two teams could cooperate in the co-cultivation of bacteria. In the end, we conducted some collaborations; see partnership for more details.
