Who?
Who is it?
It's Ginseng:
Scientific name: Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer,is a perennial herb of the Araliaceae family and the genus Panax ginseng.
The fleshy root of ginseng is a strong tonic. It is suitable for regulating blood pressure, restoring heart function, neurasthenia and physical weakness.
When?
When did it start to use?
It's a long history:
The genus Araliaceae ginseng originated in the Cenozoic Tertiary, about 60 million years ago.
During the Qianlong to Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, the cultivation of Chinese ginseng cultivation developed rapidly and the scale gradually expanded.
What?
What we care about?
Make it more extensive
The medicinal use of ginseng is very helpful to people's health.
Unfortunately, the growth cycle of ginseng is very slow and its production is limited due to its susceptibility to seasonal climate and other factors.
Which?
Which point do we care?
Increase ginsenoside production:
The pharmacological activity of ginseng is mainly attributed to ginsenosides,
which are a type of triterpene saponins linked to sugar chains. The use of ginsenosides can improve the pharmacological activity of ginseng.
Project background
Ginseng is one of the oldest relict plants on earth. It was written into a book around the Western Han Dynasty 206B.C-A.D24.
Ginseng has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for a long time
With the development of the times, traditional Chinese medicine has gradually withdrawn from people's vision due to the large amount of medicine and the long period of curative effect.
Ginseng
It can be seen that people attach great importance to "micro" and "high efficiency"
As the main active ingredient of ginseng, rare ginsenosides with very little final content of ginseng are of great research value.

In order for the rare ginsenoside to benefit the lives of the public better, its production must be increased
How to increase production?
We chose a new method - enzyme conversion method.
We found that the rare ginsenoside CK can be produced from the main ginsenoside Rb1 by enzymatic transformation, so we successfully expressed β-glucosidase (SS-bgly) derived from leaf sulfosulphide inPichia pastoris GS115 for the deglycosylation of the Rb1 and CK production.

Human practices
There is an old Chinese saying: "It's hard to support a single tree." During the experiment, we had extensive and in-depth exchanges with people outside the school.
