In
order to arouse the ardor of students towards synthetic biology, we hold a multitude of introductory
activities in BioTech Experience Week in our school. First of all, informative booths are displayed in school
to let students know about synthetic biology and our project.
Meanwhile, listening to detailed and
appealing explanations from us, students would be interested in synthetic biology and thus participate in
related courses or competitions in the future. In addition, lab tours which are conducted by our teammates
introduce students to the apparatus in the biotech laboratory and their function.
Moreover, a tasting workshop about biotechnology is held to give students who
are interested and curious about biotechnology an opportunity to have a taste of synthetic biology and learn
some useful lab skills. We hold an online talk with nearly 100 participants from junior form to educate them
about synthetic biology and raise their interests in that.

We also attempt to improve our project by collaborating with others. Meeting iGEM teams from universities and undergraduates in Hong Kong, we share our ideas with peers and promote our project in iGEM 2021 Hong Kong Region Symposium and 2021 HK High School iGEM Virtual Symposium. We hope that having these valuable opportunities can rectify our project and modify the planning such that we can produce a higher quality of spider silk to cope with the current situation. Moreover, we have interviewed Prof. King Lau Chow, whose research work spans across a broad spectrum of biological sciences about our project. Through the interview, we have received precious suggestions from Prof. King Chow, which then inspire our team and strengthen our understanding of the project. Furthermore, we are able to discover our shortcomings and modify them to improve our project.
