An interview with Prof. Cao

On June 23rd, we were honored to have Dr. Huansheng Cao, the assistant professor of environmental science at Duke Kunshan University, as an interviewee discussing our iGEM project. Dr. Cao’s research focuses on microbial systems biology and is an expert in cyanobacterial bloom-related issues. After introducing our concept of design and experimental plan of the project, he shows great interest and enthusiastically shared his experience in studying water bloom, pointed out the current concerns, and gave us many useful suggestions on how we could improve our product and better set up a test field.

Interview with Prof. Paerl

Dr. Paerl is an aquatic ecologist who works in coastal, estuarine and freshwater ecosystems. His research interest lies on assessing effects of human and climatic alterations of water quality an sustainability to coastal and inland waters around the globe. He has done the research at Taihu, China’s third largest freshwater lake, where we have collected the sample of CaynoHAB, so we decided to consult with him for better understanding of the water system of Taihu lake and the environmental factors that affects CaynoHAB sustainability.

Interview to BlueGreen Ltd.

On August 31st 2021, Duke Kunshan University IGEM team interviewed Mrs. Pu Wang, the chief manager of BlueGreen Water Technologies Ltd (China). BlueGreen Ltd is a company providing potential solutions to water blooms and it has come up with mature chemical-based algicidal products and has participated in environmental governance projects worldwide. The interview was conducted in Chinese and lasted for more than an hour. A summary of the interview in English is shown below.
