An interview with Prof. Lin

Prof. Lin is the first person we interview for the overall development of the project. We first introduce to her our plan for the experiment then ask her some questions in her expertise.

Question 1: currently, how do people deal with algae bloom?

Answer: There are three methods on the market. The first one is physical, which directly fishes out the algae blooms. The second is chemical, which reduces the amount of sewage discharged from the source and reduces the nutrients in the water. The third is biological control. The first two are the most widely used on the market.

Question 2: bio informatics modeling: We want to create a model that could our project’s impact.

Answer: It is recommended to interview Professor Kai Huang.

Question 3: Do you have any suggestions for the exosome part of our project?

Answer: It is recommended to find a specific pathway, and transform and design the pathway.

Question 4: About our floating unit design? How to test?

Answer: It is recommended that the floating unit be confined to a container with a 0.2um filter membrane from the outside. In addition, you can add sewage to clean water to simulate the environment.

Question 5: We plan to use Bacillus subtilis. Do you think this choice will have an impact on the environment?

Answer: In fact, as long as the peptide is not toxic to the host, it can be expressed. Maybe you can prepare a host library first, all express peptides, and choose the strongest expression.

Question 6: What biological methods have been used to determine the algae causing algal blooms?

Answer: The species DNA is subjected to PCR and the probe is determined.
