After we get some proteins, we tested their function.
Step 1, we collected some paper that is already used and shred as much paper as we could. In order to form homogenate, we used turbulator to make paper pulp.
The last step is to strain the pulp through a sieve and make it dry. It is easy to see the paper become smooth with sericin and chitosan. We also tested the flatness, softness, folding endurance and other measurements to show the quality of recycled paper has been improved by sericin and chitosan.
Flatness: Whether the paper is flat and smooth, measured by the appearance.
Softness: Whether the paper is soft and resilient, measured by scratch reaction.
Folding endurance: Whether the paper is fragile and hard, measured by crease experiment.
According to our data, sericin and chitosan can significantly improve the quality of recycled paper.
