Education | For this criteria, we hosted educational seminars at our school aimed at raising awareness regarding the Vibrio contamination issue around the world, especially in Hong Kong. Our seminars also help another educational facet to them, by sharing our experiences with iGEM, and this project, we hoped to inspire other entrepreneurial minds to take action on their ideas. |
Integrated Human Practices | For this criteria, we visited professors and oyster store owners to understand more about the current context of Vibrio contamination our kits would fit in, as well as the certain ethical aspects of contamination detection and purification that concern our Vib-check. |
Partnership | For this criteria, we had a mentor-mentee relationship with HKU. They provided us with a lot of great feedback and assistance, and we helped them reach a wider demographic of secondary school students with their events. |
Proof of Concept | For this criteria we examined the functionality of our kit as a whole in real-world conditions, as well as placing other parts of our project, such as hardware, in context with the entire kit. Through these examinations we found great results demonstrating that our kit works as we intend it to in real-world conditions. |
Entrepreneurship | For this criteria we analyzed the industries surrounding bacterial contamination detection, purification, and made comparisons between our products and commercially available ones. We also demonstrated foresight in our analysis of product commercial implementation. |
Improvement of an Existing Part | For this criteria we analyzed the industries surrounding bacterial contamination detection, purification, and made comparisons between our products and commercially available ones. We also demonstrated foresight in our analysis of product commercial implementation. |
