Experiments Background

The main goal of all of our experiments was to create and further refine our detection system and procedure. Due to the intricate nature of all of the reagents involved, it took many experiments and attempts to find the ideal combination that would lead to a highly functioning, compact kit. Furthermore, we also had to be very, very specific with the actual procedure involved in making the various solutions. We had to be very careful and thorough with all of our experiments.

To summarize our experimental process, we essentially conducted repeated and various experiments with different concentrations and proportions of the various reagents involved in our detection system. For instance, in situations where there was a false positive result, we were forced to creatively problem-solve to see what specific component was causing the issue. Many cases like this occurred in the context of a larger engineering process. However, in the end, after no small amount of hard work and elbow grease, we were able to create a final proof of concept procedure.

Our proof of concept final experiment procedure was the culmination of months of painstaking work and combined various protocols into our final product. By incorporating the various aspects of our experimental work, we were able to create an LFA detection system that can detect the presence of Vibrio bacteria in a given sample with a high degree of accuracy. The following two embedded PDFs contain our log of experiment protocols, as well as their corresponding results.
