Collaboration
Our collaboration mainly settled in two major events — a one-to-one wet team collaboration with Fujian_United, and a global SDG(sustainable development goals) conference with various iGEM teams hosted by Taipei American School. In our first collaboration, we had many experimental parallels with Fujian_United, including a similar major framework of using multiple pathway and the concept of cell factory to boost production of ideal product and many detailed procedures such as overlap PCR, separating plasmids, and using yeast competent cells. During our collaboration, we mainly discussed major problems we're facing in wet lab and exchanged possible solutions. One specific instance of that is when they suggested a solution to our prior unsuccessful attempt at overlapping the third gene. They suggested that we could increase our extension phase at 72℃ to obtain more ideal overlap result. Inspired by their suggestion, we extended our time in extension phase from 10 seconds to 25 seconds and obtained the result we wanted. Of course, the help isn't always one way, we would often comment on their data collection techniques and give constructive criticism to advance their experiment.
In our second collaboration, we presented how our project would fit into the realm of sustainable development while focusing on our target of good health and well being(which belongs to subgoal 3.B). We broke down our presentation into three interviews, covering a Sinphar Atropin Eyedrop user, a Phenobaribital and Scopolamine Hydrobromide Tablets user for anti-car sickness, and an Arrhythemia patient. All of our interviewees rely on atropine related products illustrating the wide-range utility of our product and its potential to contribute to sustainable developments.
