SHSID

Collaboration
We collaborated with another 2021 iGEM team, Alpha-LUCO (Official Team Name: Fujian_United). Their team members is mainly made up with high school students around China, especially in Southeastern provinces. They chose to study the feasibility of optimizing ethanol production by developing a gene-edited Saccharomyces cerevisiae functional in self-secreting glucoamylase while keeping the same fermentation capacity.
We mainly discussed two core topics in the meet-up:
1) Design of peripheral goods and related pricing strategy. Since we have started our project earlier than Alpha-LUCO, we shared some useful experience in planning dry group activities with them, especially about how to design a peripheral product list and what factors should be included in product pricing. We suggested team Alpha-LUCO that since peripheral goods would be mainly used for fundraising, they may make the pricing strategy from clients’ psychological perspective.
2) Experiments on Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The chassis used in our project is Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the same as team Alpha-LUCO’s. Therefore, we shared some experiment experience with their team members, especially about experiment planning and related experiment habits. We believed that this experience-sharing would help team Alpha-LUCO better proceed with their project.
