Team:UZurich/Sponsors

When we first contacted the Faculty of Science, they were excited to hear that, for the third year in a row, students from the University of Zurich (UZH) were once more participating in iGEM and representing Switzerland and the university itself. Their funding allowed us to kickstart our project and to finance the initial fees required for the competition. It is a great honor to represent the UZH in this international competition. It is a privilege to be studying at such an interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial faculty. We hope to represent our university well!

The UZH’s investment in research and its support for students is very large. We are thankful that as an additional financial source, the President’s Service has also kindly contributed to our finances. It means a lot to us that our university truly believes in our vision and eagerly supports our pursuit of research.

In August of 2021, we met with the Managing Director, and the Assistant Managing Director of Max Schwarz AG to discuss implementations of our technology, the possibility of partnering up to field-test it, and to discuss financial support in our project. Max Schwarz AG is one of the largest distributors of vegetables and seedlings in Switzerland and is committed to ensuring that their product is sustainable, and of the highest quality. Given this, we are honored that they show great interest in our project, that they support us financially, and that we have the possibility to work so closely with a company that lives and breathes innovation.

Promega has continually been supporting the UZH iGEM team ever since we first joined back in 2019. Their generous and kind sponsorship enabled us to get our laboratory work on its feet. Additionally, the company’s representatives took time to discuss our project plans together and shared their experience and expertise with us to ensure success in our laboratory work.

The company is partnering with iGEM teams for it’s eighth consecutive year. Their in-kind provision of 20kb custom DNA facilitated research for dozens of iGEM teams, including ours. Their contribution to the research surrounding synthetic biology is invaluable, and we appreciate their service greatly.

We thank Noser Engineering for their generous support. Even though their field of work is quite different from ours, their unbroken passion for innovation drives them to support innovative projects such as ours.

Microsynth was one of the first companies we contacted. They too have been supporting the UZH iGEM team since our initial participation back in 2019. When we presented them with our project, we received very positive feedback and they were glad to support us once more. We value their convenient ordering system and have received nothing but top-quality products from Microsynth.

We thank Benchling for offering our team free software licenses. Benchling facilitated designing primers, creating sequence alignments and annotating constructs.

We thank SnapGene for offering our team free software licenses. Snapgene made designing plasmids and primers a breeze, and allowed us to easily check sequencing results and visualize experiments in-silico.

One of our most important sponsors requested to remain anonymous. Nevertheless, we thank them for believing in our project, and for their passion to drive innovative projects forward.
