Randy Gan
Hello! My name is Randy Gan and I am a senior at Los Gatos High School. I'm 16
years old and live in Los Gatos, California. Basketball is my favorite sport and is an integral
part of my life. I love watching the NBA and I've also played basketball throughout high school
for Los Gatos High School. I'm fascinated by Graphic Design and Business and they are possible
career choices for me to pursue. I have made several identity packages for businesses around San
Francisco Bay Area. I deeply cherish the memories I've made with friends and family, as they are
one of the most important things in my life. I once heard a quote that said, “Business is only a
vehicle. But it'll take you anywhere.” Being part of Heartinker's dry team, I'll be able to open
the door to that vehicle and truly explore the world of business.

Hello, my name is Frank Liu. I am currently studying in the International
Department of Beijing No. 35 Middle School. I like playing basketball, and I joined the school
team and won the championship in the BIYB League in the 2020-2021 season. Besides, I am
interested in movies and traveling. I am fond of economics, and biology, which aroused my
interest in iGEM. In our team, I am a member of the dry team and played the role of publishing
articles in our official account and writing the wiki. During my iGEM journey, I learned a lot
of advanced knowledge and got acquainted with a group of good friends.

Hi, my name is Junhe Zhou. I'm from Shanghai, China, and studying at Kang Chiao
International School in Suzhou, China. I'm interested in all kinds of sport, and l take part in
our school's soccer team. This is the first I participate in the IGEM competition, and I haven't
attended any competitions like this, so it's a whole new challenge for me.

Hello everyone, I'm Michelle Leng, a student from Changzhou senior high school of
Jiangsu Province. Playing basketball and Chinese zither take up a big part of my life.
Sometimes, Chinese antiquities such as needlework and stone carvings attract me a lot. !!!What I
want you to know the most is my idol is a cool and cute girl called Lu Keran!!! My interest in
how to maximize profit when selling goods and other aspects has brought me to the dry team in
iGEM. I'm very lucky to meet these like-minded teammates here.

Hi, guys, I'm Grace Xie, a 16-year-old junior from Immaculate High School in
Connecticut. I have always been obsessed with taking care of all kinds of animals, including
rabbits, silkworms, ducks, kinds of birds and fish, etc, and nine tropical fish, two parrots,
and a cat are members of my family now. I enjoy interacting with animals and witnessing their
life. Besides, I also love art. Watercolor is my favorite, which can always drag me out of the
busy world, and immerse myself in my utopia.

Hi guys! I'm Shuya, and I was born in Shanghai, China. I lived in Canada and Korea
for about 5 years in total when I was young. Hence, I can speak 3 languages including Korean,
Chinese, and English. By the way, I like everything related with music. Currently, I am a senior
at Yew Chung International School.

My name is Ann.
I am 16 years old. I'm from the IB International Department of
Shanghai Private Education. I was the class representative for history and critical thinking at
the school.
I am good at photography, drawing cartoons, and playing the Liuqin. I like playing games,
reading comics and reading books. I have won the third prize in the Southeast Division of the
USADSEED China Final and some awards for painting and photography. Of course, these are all
small prizes, so I really hope that I can improve my ability through this competition. At the

Hi guys, my name is Ella (Yuxin Jiang), I'm a sophomore at Cushing Academy in
Massachusetts. I'm into visual art, languages, psychology, and performing art. I had been
dancing ballet for ten years, k-pop for four years, and other types of dances such as
contemporary, jazz, pop, Bollywood, and Chinese traditional dances. I used to have two annual
ballet performances, one in Beijing and one in Tokyo for eight years (Even though it stopped
after the pandemic). It's such a grateful thing that dance had became a part of life. On the
other hand, I love to study languages, to open up a brand new culture, even though I can only
speak Chinese and English well, but I'm also working on Spanish and Japanese.

What's up guys, my name is Tianzong Wang but I think you will prefer to call me
Peter. Yeah, you are right. It is definitely a cool name. The reason why I choose this name is
that I was obsessed with Spider-Man when I was young. I am a 17 -year-old student from Hamden
Hall Country Day School of America. I like playing basketball, playing the guitar, singing,
playing E-sport and doing some adventures. If you haven't heard my singing. Then...you are
lucky. But it doesn't discourage me to love music. Things that I was most proud of in my 17
years of life is that I have 10 years experience of hiking. It's a hobby I've been following
since I was a kid. The most impressive experience for me was hiking more than 6,000 meters on
Mount Everest for 14 days. It is always the thing that I use to boast about with my friends. I
promise you won't refuse to like such a sunny and energetic boy.

Hello there, It's Max Qiu, a 16 years old student from Kunshan, Jiangsu province.
I'm currently study in Ulink College of Shanghai. I'm especially interested in Computer and
Social Studying, and have a lot of research of computing skills and data representations, like
Powerpoints etc. I have a variety of hobbies like badminton and swimming, but the thing which
attracts me a lot since I was young is music. From piano to string instruments, and music made
on computers. I've got to Sydney Opera House for competition, and won many municipal
championships being a chief of viola in our school orchestra. At the same time, biology is also
one of my favorite subjects, and I'm willing to do very detailed research on a particular topic.
As an ending up, I'm really appreciated to join this wonderful team with intelligent students
from all corners of the country, and I believe that with my joining, our group will become
better.

Hello, I am Alex, Meng Qingjie, an optimistic boy with strong learning ability and
strong leadership. My junior high school has been serving as squad leader and squadron leader in
Tsinghua High School. I am now seventeen years old and I am in the 11th grade at Ridley College
in St. Catharines, Canada. I like to communicate with people of different personalities and
ages. I have many hobbies, such as photography, badminton, basketball, etc. I also like to
accept challenges. I have a great interest in biology and psychology. Last year, I completed a
paper on "Theory of Mind Deficit and its Neural Dysfunction in Schizophrenia" with a professor
from Harvard University and two other college students and it has been published in
International Science Magazine. I am a member of many clubs in our school, such as Raft club,
badminton club and so on. As the director in my Raft club, I often lead our classmates in Raft
club to shoot various life skills to teach lower grade students and also post a number of videos
on YouTube. I am a member of the Heartinker team of our iGEM. Our theme is "screening of
antidepressant lead compounds". Although this is a very cutting-edge topic, I believe that we
can complete the project perfectly and achieve good results and this project is interesting and
meaningful.

Hello everyone, I'm Zhou Chang from the wet team, I'm from Shanghai China. It is a
great honor to participate in the iGEM（International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition）
and to participate with such excellent team members. Perhaps like many of the team members, the
academic area that I am best at and most interested in is biomedical science. In addition to
daily study, I will look for more opportunities to learn knowledge in the field of biology.I
like watching documentaries and popular science videos to learn knowledge, and I am also good at
biology and chemistry. Apart from academic interests, I also have many other recreational
interests, such as badminton, piano, saxophone, drawing cartoons and chess, etc. I have also won
prizes in badminton and chess.
When I joined the team, I was a senior high school student and played a younger role in the
team. Even though my teammates are more mature and knowledgeable than me, I can still blend in
with them with confidence and do my best to help my teammates and make great contributions to
the team.

grade 11 now. I like listening to Music and playing piano when I am free. In this competition, I
am a member from wet lab, which is responsible for the experiment part. Our topic is about the
new way to recover the patients with depression. We do the research and read papers to try to
discover and control a new method to help patients with depression. Everything is awesome.
That's very interesting and meaningful to make a common goal with a group of people and work
hard to reach it. I very enjoy that and I hope we can make it far.

Hey, I am Mary Zhang, an optimistic girl with strong learning ability. I love to
take challenges. I study in a high school in RI. I like to communicate with people of different
personalities and ages. I like pink because it's a lovely color. I have a poodle at home, I've
had her for 12 years! When I was young, I was very interested in plant studies, but now I'm very
interested in biology and chemistry, I like to explore the mysteries of life. Once I worked as a
teaching assistant in Li Yang Crazy English, leading the team members to complete their English
learning. I'm a member of the math competition team in our school. I often lead the members of
our biology class to do some interesting experiments and analyses. Some people may think this is
a boring thing, but I'm more interested in it. That's me, outgoing and confident.

ignorant is the best way to learn science. Hi there. My name is Tommy. A high school student who
is interested in biochemistry and molecular biology. I am one of the members of the wet lab. I
love to learn from failure, review what we have so far and stay all my day in the lab. Progress
can only be made by admitting that there is something wrong with what we have and reflect on
what went wrong. Outside of our project, I usually play my saxophone, play basketball, and read
books. Although this is my first time taking part in iGEM, it is a captivating experience for me
to build a project like this with my teammate, and I learn many things that I cannot learn from
school. Be brave and humble for every iGEMer!

English name. I'm attending Maranatha High School in California, a beautiful Christian school
with a long history. I'm very interested in Biology, especially hoping to use those technologies
to help people live better in this world. I'm very grateful to receive this chance from iGEM to
deeply research depression disorder and understand we, as future researchers, still have a long
way to go to help people get rid of pain and suffering.

countries is Joseph Niu. I am Chinese. I am male. I was born in twenty-one century, two thousand
and four. Therefore, I am seventeen years old this year. In my free time, i like to play soccer,
which is a very popular ball-game around the world. In my free time, i also like to play Counter
strike- Global Offensive, which is a very popular computer game. My height is between one meter
and two meters. I have ten fingers, ten toes, and an untold amount of hair. I have all my limbs.
