Communication

On July 12th, we held offline publicity in the office building where we were working and introduced our project concept and accessories to the staff and teachers who were invited to our sharing.

During the sharing, three students explained and analyzed the whole project, which enabled teachers to understand better the topic that we are committing to research. Seeing the teachers are paying attention to our presentation, our team members felt delighted. Nevertheless, there are also teachers involved in the explanation process and asked questions.

At last, the most prominent part of this offline sharing, selling, attained success. With our explanation, all the staff on the spot were impressed by our enthusiasm and actively supported us by buying accessory products. In the end, we gained 2222.26 rmbs for pure interest, attained complete success!

After the publicity event, we went to a coffee shop called Dream Factory cafe, a special cafe that provides job opportunities for people with mental disabilities, to publicize our project(including the knowledge of depression).

Once we arrived at the cafe, we distributed the brochures about our project to the guests there. We invited them to follow our Wechat official account to keep us informed about our experiment progress and plan. During our publicity, we told them about our project's goal and final output. One is some compounds we screened by the RIN 14B electrophysiological platform we built to stimulate the E. coli the most. And the other is a probiotic health care product that can prevent and ease depression.

After promoting our project to her, she shared her ideas on the causes of depression from a brand new"the lack of "her perspective. She stated that people that have nutrient deficiency are easier to get depression due to their higher possibility of getting nutritional maladjustment, endocrine disorders, therefore causing negative emotions a more severe depression. Nevertheless, another guest majored in doctor, and she was curious about what state our project is in and when we will test on human and implement on clinical use. We explained that our project is still in the very beginning, it doesn't extend to the state where human studies happen, we end at the output of the probiotic product.

After our explanation and sharing, the guests recognized our project and concept, encouraged us to continue to work hard, and raised hope to help patients with depression and contribute to the future development of antidepressants and the world.

The communication between the guests and us benefited us a lot. We spread our project concept, raised public awareness about depression, gained firm public support, and gained new followers of our official account. Overall, throughout this offline sharing, we realized how meaningful and practical our project is and steeled our resolve to continue ad complete this project.
