Kaiwen Chen (Kevin Chen)
I am Kaiwen (Kevin) Chen, a rising senior at Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia, PA. I am, as referred by my teachers and friends, an enthusiast in biological research. Being influenced by my parents who both work as doctors, I have developed an interest in biology at quite a young age, and have demonstrated this interest through observing local wildlife and reading magazines ever since. I am especially fond of learning the mechanisms of life that define what living organisms are—from the anatomy of elephants to the structures of paramecia. Besides my devotion to biology, I also like to play computer games with my friends. As a person, I am often defined by my willingness to support others and my friendliness during a dialogue. I am also characterized by my poor taste of art and music; however, being Chinese, I am rather judgmental for food tastes.
Lyurui Cheng (Adela Cheng)
Hi! I'm Lyurui Cheng, and I also go by my English name Adela. I go to school at Shanghai United International School-Gubei Campus. Regarding school subjects, I identify as a biology and chemistry enthusiast. With a more focused interest in nutritional biology and food chemistry, I hope to further my studies to find out about the science behind the food we eat. Outside of school, I'm a dedicated baker/cook and an aspiring artist. My experience in the creative arts has helped me realize the importance of thinking out of the box. I’m the half-glass full person who never lacks passion for the things I love. Sometimes I get too focused and I tend to forget other important things (FYI: I’ve been skipping a lot of meals).
Zilin Fang (Bruce Fang)
My name is Bruce Fang. I am currently a 10th-grade student at YK Pao School. My friends and family members say that I am a very steady person, not a risk-taker. I like to spend my time a do things perfectly. I am part of my school’s FTC robotic team for three years and I oversee the robot’s structure and construction. In terms of sports, I do rowing during the weekends. In school, I exceed in biology and physics. I find biology a very fascinating topic as individual differences bring you completely different results. I joined the USABO this year and was honored with a silver prize. Even though I am in 10th grade, I learned an entire AP biology course in 9th grade to make sure I have substantial knowledge on more advanced biology topics.
Jiarui Hu (Emily Hu)
My name is Emily Hu, a grade twelve student. This is the second year I studied at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary in Canada. During the two years, I organized a hip-hop dance club and our videos got over 50,000 views on Bilibili and YouTube. I took guitar as my avocation and started a band named 5cc latte. We posted videos on YouTube to raise funds for children who yearn for musical instruments but cannot afford them. Besides, I played an important role in my community, voluntarily teaching kids math and science online during Covid-19 pandemics. I also took it as my duty to contribute to society, providing food and clothes for the homeless in Vancouver. In my leisure time, literature and music also comfort me. While in school, my academic performance has been highly affirmed by my teachers and classmates and I enjoyed using my knowledge and skills to help others. I am an extroverted and gregarious person who enjoys sharing happiness with my friends.
JiahengLi(Lee Li)
My name is Li Jiaheng, a 17-year-old boy who is from Wuhan, Hubei province. I am a cheerful and outgoing boy. I like sports very much in my free time and the most important sport is basketball. Basketball is a big part of my life. It’s the love of my life. In terms of study, I am good at statistics, chemistry, precalculus, and other courses. My future major is chemical industry, which is mainly about oil and natural gas. Therefore, I have a strong interest in chemistry and I hope to have a good reserve of chemical knowledge so that I can learn better in the future university life. In the process of learning chemistry, I also love doing experiments very much. In school chemistry class, sometimes the teacher would lead us to the chemistry lab to carry out some simple experiments, but I think this experiment is really interesting and I am still trying this experimental procedure until I get the final result perfectly.
Kai Lian (Kevin Lian)
Hi everyone, my name is Kai Lian, and I also go by the English name, Kevin. Being a tenth grader, I am currently studying at Shude high school in Chengdu, Sichuan. I have a wide range of habits including sports and music. For me, the most attractive sport of all is basketball. Besides that, I also pay close attention to the games and teams in the NBA league. What’s more, I am a player of both guitar and saxophone for years. In fact, I was one of the leading members of a student rock band and a player of the school jazz band in my previous school. In leisure, I spend most of my time on basketball and music-related entertainments or watching movies. In school, I am an outgoing and extroverted student. Besides having high academic performance, I’m always willing to make a new friend and use my knowledge to help others with the course that they did not comprehend well.
Yuehan Lyu (Amber Lyu)
Hello everyone! My name is Lyu Yuehan, and I also go by the English name Amber. I am a grade twelve student from Shenzhen. I have a great strong curiosity about things that I have never tried before. Also, I really like to talk with like-minded strangers which is an amazing challenge for me to improve my social skills. Besides, I am a crazy fan of cosmetics. Because it is amazing when I got different cosmetics and found that they have different ingredient lists but the same effects. Therefore in the future, I want to study chemistry as my major to explore this wonderful field. What’s more, in my spare time, I often play tennis and volleyball with my friends. It’s really hard to take the service in volleyball so recently I tried to strengthen my arms. Also, I am really into Chinese literature, because through the books I can talk with some writers I admire very much.
Zhifei Ren (Carlian)
My name is Ren Zhifei. My English name is Carlian. I’m a 17-year-old high school student in Shanghai. I am interested in biology, math, and neuroscience. I like reading and thinking along in a quiet and comfortable place, I also find it interesting to observe people’s behavior by myself. I was keen on solving tasks related to deep thinking or widely regarded impossible. I have tried using the reasoning method to prove the four-color theorem. I learn some math and biology myself as there are no such classes in the general high school I stayed in. So there shouldn’t be too many difficulties. But I hope there are some, every time, it’s what I can’t enable me can do something. I do not have many experiences of the past, but there are many results from the bad decisions gained by myself which are the key to the success of every decision now.
Fei Wu (Mily Wu)
My name is Fei Wu and I am currently 16 years old. I am a student at Beijing 101 high school. During my freshman year in high school, my favorite subjects are biology and statistics. At the same time, I like helping others and doing volunteer. I am the class monitor of our class, and I am very happy to help others solve their problems in daily life. I also serve as vice president of our school's CAT and DOG’s club. Our club aims to help stray animals, particularly stray cats on campus. At the same time, I'm also an organizer in our school's Psychology Club to organize activities with our classmates. I love Frisbee because it always makes me relax as I play frisbee with my friend. I am a person who is always curious and patient. I believe that the ideal return is achievable if the right objective is to be met. On the other hand, hard work and perseverance are very important as well. I think lifelong learning and innovation can make me a better person.

Qianyi Ma
Bonjour! I am Qianyi Ma from Beijing, China. Currently, I am studying in Beijing Shuren Ribet private school in Beijing. With the passion and curiosity to this miraculous world, I am willing to take biology as my future major because I aspire to be the one who could unravel some secrets of organisms. And that is the reason why I participate in the IGEM competition. Although I am a novice of this kind of academic program, I would like to spare no effort to collaborate with my teammates and derive experience and knowledge from the project, laying a groundwork for my future study. I am really glad that I could be selected in the dry team of ASeeker, undertaking the responsibility to popularize the science work of arsenic detection and fundraise for it. I believe we could cohere with each other and create a product to benefit the whole world.

Shengdi Huang
I’m Shengdi Huang. A 10th grader that study in Doane Academy in New Jersey. playing sports and running my charity program for years make me enthusiastic .I am also a person who carries business-running experiences since I am running a baking store and have participated in KHWS competition that inspired me to study more about finance and food science in the future. The environment that I grow upmakes me want to get more in the future. Also, it is the reason that I came to IGEM. I am grateful to be a part of ASeeker. I hope we can earn a precious experience and also a good competition results through our passion and effort!

Hi everyone, my name is Wang Tong, or you can just simply call me Taddy. I am a second-year from Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia. This is my first time participating in the IGEM competition. I have a wide interest in Physics, Biology, and Business, so, joining this year’s competition can help me form a better vision of my future major. Besides the academic interests, I am also a big fan of animation and animation spin-offs, so I enjoy writing and drawing my favorite characters in my spare time. Ao Zhang (Tony Zhang)
Hello, I’m Zhang Ao and my English name is Tony, and I am from Beijing National Day School International department. Currently, I’m taking A-Level courses, preparing to apply universities in U.K. I chose computer science, further math and physics for my A-level course. As for my hobbies, I am a crazy fan of programming, since I like the feel when I am creating something as well as when I am figuring out the mechanism behind something. Moreover, I like raising animals like cats, lizards. Nowadays, technology is developing in a breathtaking speed to bring a better life to all of us, people are at the same time focusing more and more on their healthy. As a result, I take part in IGEM and I am a member of dry team. I am here to try my best to use the knowledge of computer science to propaganda the advantages of Synthetic Biology, making more and more people accept it. I believe, by using the advantages of Synthetic biology, we can create a bright future for the humankind together.
Yujie Zhou (Michael Zhou)
Hey guys, I’m Michael Zhou from Beijing World Youth Academy in China, and I’m a DP 1 (G11) student. During my whole study life, I had tons of different dreams, I used to be interested in Medical Science, Media, Psychology, and many other majors. However, everytime when I tried to get along with them, I always found they are not same as my thoughts, until I met Economics and Business Management in a competition. I fell in love with management and social science quickly, under this special emotional promotion, I participated in different kinds of economic and BM activities, I wanted to choose BM as my major in the future, and the key competitiveness of this major is communication skills, which can be improved in IGEM competition. Despite of that, I’d like to try and take highly challenging activities, learn new things from them and solve them by using the knowledge I already had. For me, biology is not an easy subject to understand, especially when it comes to using biology to solve real life problems. Therefore, this experience can absolutely help me become better in two ways. Firstly, in our team, I’m able to write the articles to propagate our project to the public, this will help me improve my skills to write different types of articles, and learn more about our biology experiment part; also, I can help with the surveys to the citizens and the interviews with experts, which will contribute to enhance my communication skills. All in all, I am very fortunate to be a member of team ASeeker, and I really hope we can make some changes to our community to help everyone live in a health environment.
Muyang Cheng(Anmanus Cheng)
Hi I’m Cheng Muyang from Anhui. And currently I am studying in Yuexi middle school. In my childhood, biologists——people who wears lab coats are the ones I admire the most. Seeing them manipulate the instruments in the lab gracefully and get the information they need from a lot of data, I was obsessed by them, by the science. From then on, I developed a hobby of reading scientific journals. Although I can’t understand most of the articles in them, but I still insist on subscribing them because it provides me with a chance to get to know their world. As years pass by, I grew up gradually, and I found IGEM. It gives me the opportunity I have been wishing for a long time——joining in a scientific project and play a part in it. So that’s why I become an “IGEMer”, become a member of “ASeeker”. I have a heart for exploring and adventure, thus I will try to let more people know about our project along with its importance. Personally speaking, I have drawbacks, but I will try my best to overcome them and unite my teammates to achieve our goal! There are still a lot of things for me to learn in the IGEM, and I am ready to get them and then use them to finish my project. It is an honor for me to participate in IGEM, and of course I will be glad to see our project be a success and do something for the earth we live in.
Xinyuan Wang (Sally Wang)
Hi! My name is Wang Xinyuan, and I also go by my English name, Sally. I’m a rising junior at Keystone Academy, Beijing. In the 4 years I’ve spent in Keystone, I insisted on my cultivated hobbies like dancing, and I also developed a plenty of new activities, such as composing poetry. These hobbies have already become the ones that I devote most of my spire time in, and I became a cadre member in poetry club and the leader in dance team since grade 8. Besides, I’m an enthusiast in Asian cultural research, so I’d love to read novels, watch movies, and listen to folktales that are created in this theme. Because my interests cover both the traditional and popular Asian culture, I’m also a big fan of ACGN and K-Pop. As a person, I might seem like an introvert when I first meet somebody. However, believe me or not, I will become the “crazy” type when I really get to know you guys.
Mobo Zhou (Malcolm Zhou)
My name is Zhou Mobo from Changsha. A twelfth-grade student who study in Yali International School. I enjoy the time when I am playing basketball, Moreover, I’m interested in Biology and Commerce. Therefore, I join in this project and try to improve myself in these subject. Also, I hope I can get many new friends and have a good time here. I’m Zhenru Wu, I’ll be in 11 grade next year. My friends and parents always say I’m an outgoing person. I also enjoy the process of cooperation, especially in team sports and activities. I put into all of my attention when I do things. In addition, I can motivate the whole team. In spare time, I like writing novel in HuaBen novel website and painting for my novel. When drawing, I feel very relaxed and focused, as if I really enter the world. And I also have many fans in the website. I am also interested in dancing ballet and watching figure skating games. My favorite players are Alexandra Trusova, and Anna Sherbakova. They are twins. I like them because they are strong, hard-working and brave. It is not easy to make a four-way jump. During this period, they are 60% likely to cause comminuted fractures. I admire their brave spirit of knowing the danger ahead but still not retreating. In the future, I want to study Fashion Design orSpecial Education. Hi, I am Yiqi from WLSA Shanghai Academy, and I am ready to be a G11 student in summer 2021. I like travelling because I find that eating food along the way when I travel is very enjoyable. And I also like doing sports, and I wish in the future I can be more professional in sports. I also like doing calligraphy with fountain pens and inks. I like Japan and wish to travel there and buy beautiful inks and try the traditional matcha there. I am very glad to participate in this highly competitive competition and very glad to meet my great friends.
