General Lab Safety
Our lab at ATLATL has the physical protection level of BSL-1, which means we only deal with microorganisms with no pathogenicity to healthy adults.
Fire Safety
There are fire hydrants, fire extinguishers, automatic spray system, manual fire alarm, fireproof shutter doors, and smoke alarms in the laboratory area. And the escaping route is well-managed. So our lab meets the national fire safety regulations.
Individual Protection
Eating or drinking is not allowed in the lab area. Besides, white coats and PVC gloves are required and only in the lab. Goggles are needed for hazardous experiments and an eye washer is provided for unexpected accidents.
Emergency Handling
Once the laboratory encounters a dangerous or unmanageable situation (such as experimental accidents, fires, leakage of dangerous goods, etc.), the person in charge of the laboratory will arrange for the relevant team to deal with it immediately. This laboratory is equipped with trained personnel to ensure a rapid response for any emergency.

We only used E. coli DH5α and Lactobacillus casei which are harmless to human beings and all related experiments were conducted under the supervision of our instructor, Ms. Song.
