PETase sequences database

There has been a plethora of iGEM teams since 2012 working on PET plastic degradation. Each project had their own research papers and sequences from different databases so having a stepping stone for initial research steps would benefit the future teams and possibly academic experts. We partnered with University of Toronto who’s been working on the PET degradation since 2019, to build a database to provide good quality inputs for machine learning models for future iGEM teams.

Both teams collaborated to select the mutated sequences that enhanced the yield more monohydroxyethyl terephthalate (MHET) and terephthalate (TPA) and had higher tolerance for melting temperatures. Also, we included the metadata for each mutant that could help wet lab teams for constructing experiments.
