The Giant Jamboree brings together iGEM teams from all over de world, where each of them showcase their project and the prizes are awarded. Figure 1. 2019 Giant Jamboree (https://blog.igem.org/blog/2019/11/13/recap-of-the-igem-2019-giant-jamboree) This year, as an exception, the Giant Jamboree was going to take place in Paris, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic it is impossible for 7000 people to gather for this huge event in the same place. Hence, regional meetups are being organized in different parts of the world so that some teams can gather and experience the grand finale together. Despite being the first year in which the University of Zaragoza participates in iGEM, we have taken this great opportunity for being the venue for one of the few meetings that will take place in Europe. Actually, we expect to host in Zaragoza teams not from Spain but from many parts of Europe such as Greece or Denmark. Around 200 atendees will come to the Jamboree in Zaragoza. Although it is an extraordinary challenge to host such an event, it is also a unique opportunity to show that Zaragoza it is a powerhouse in the biotechnology sector and that its University bets for its students. Figure 2. Basilica del Pilar, Zaragoza The meetup will begin in the afternoon on November 12 with a welcome session, in which the registration of attendees, distribution of accreditations and a small welcome talk will be carried out. After that, we are organizing some leisure activities. November 13 will be dedicated to the exhibition of the projects of the teams attending, which will allow meeting members of other teams and networking, and for those who are interested, in the afternoon, there will be sightseeing tour around the city centre. During the morning of November 14, there will be talks by experts related to synthetic biology or team sponsors. And finally at 3 pm November 14 the the awards ceremony will take place. We have already arranged some of the event preparation, such as the main location that will be the Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Medicine. We also have the help of the copy shop, Aula4, that will be in charge of printing the accreditations and advertising posters for the meetup, and the coffee breaks will be sponsored by Eboca. We are also in contact with hostels and colleges for accommodation, as well as with the town hall to offer the leisure activities. Furthermore, there is a 10% discount on train tickets for the Giant Jamboree attendees. The organization is being a time trial, but we are determined to make an unforgettable event. Figure 3.
