Tec CEM 2021
Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals (EDC’s) mess up with metabolic pathways, making an unbalanced work inside our bodies imitating our hormones. The multiple sources from where we can ingest them such as microplastics are several, but principally, drinking plastic bottles, where our right of clean water, health & wellness are compromised.
That's why we collaborated with iGEM TEC CEM, to measure micro particles in bottled water from our community using the Zetasizer equipment in our campus, for them to analyze the possible factors that might degrade plastic faster and be ingested by people with the objective of supporting the collection of data in order to create regulatory frameworks for microplastics in bottled water and ensure the right to health in our countries.
iGEM LATAM Meetup 2021 (Online)
We participated in the online iGEM LATAM Meetup 2021 organized by the Tec CEM team where we had the opportunity to present our project with other teams and expert judges and receive valuable feedback.
EPFL 2020
As part of our cell-free system strategy, we were looking for two plasmids. The EPFL iGEM of 2020 kindly provided us those plasmid which their 2019 team had worked with. They shipped them to Mexico and really helped us to sustain the costs of our project.
