We are grateful for all the individuals, organizations, and university departments that helped our team during the 2021 season.
Team Work
Our team of undergraduate scientists worked tirelessly to bring our final project to fruition!
Adam Tisch - Contributed to the wet-lab experiments for inverse fusion PCR, Gibson assembly, and protein purification. Responsible for brainstorming ideas of how to carry out experiments to get the best results and also designed primers for inverse fusion PCR.
Alec Eames - Contributed to wet lab experiments such as inverse fusion PCR, transformation, and protein purification, helped film and create project promotional video, organized and contributed to project wiki page.
Amogh Angadi - Responsible for planning meetings and experiments, ordering experimental materials, and other administrative tasks. Also contributed to wet lab work related to inverse fusion PCR, Gibson assembly, transformation, and protein purification.
Anya Young - Involved in general wet-lab experiments for inverse fusion PCR and transformation. Contributed to the computational modeling aspect of our project as well as filming the promotional video.
Bonnie Spence - Contributed to the carrying out wet lab experiments for inverse fusion PCR, Gibson assembly, transformation, and protein purification; helped plan out the promotional video; and maintained stock of our lab supplies.
Carolyn Glasser - Contributed to experimental planning and designed primers for Gibson assembly. Also put together our speaker event series for human practices.
Elizabeth Snider - Contributed to experimental planning and carrying out the wet lab experiments for inverse fusion PCR, Gibson assembly, transformation, and protein purification.
Fiona Li - Helped plan for speaker events and contributed to experiment planning.
George Rabadi - Contributed to various wet-lab experiments such as inverse fusion PCR and Gibson assembly. Also helped in the creation of the wiki page.
John Yin - Contributed to wet lab experiments during the summer such as Gibson assembly and inverse fusion PCR, contributed to the wiki page.
Preeti Raj - Contributed to computational modeling and experimental planning.
Shiyuan Gong - Responsible for gathering funding for our team from various sources, including university departments. Contributed to the wet lab experiments for inverse fusion PCR and protein purification.
Tejal Mahajan - Directed the team selection process, including recruiting new members and conducting interviews. Contributed to wiki design, team video, and fundraising.
Experimental Support
Our team is grateful to work with these fantastic researchers who provided us with experimental support!
Allen Liu - Helped us plan our experiments and offered advice for cloning and endocytosis assay.
Anthony Balistreri - Helped us troubleshoot and design our experiments and offered us lab equipment for use.
Cassandra Dutcher - Gave us the plasmid as well as bacterial stock for our encapsulin
Robert Benisch - Offered us advice on experiments as well as future directions related to mRNA.
Tobias Giessen - Helped us plan our initial experiments and do initial literature review.
Advisor Support
Anuj Kumar - Helped us plan our experiments and helped us order experimental reagents and supplies.
Ethan Hillman - Helped us troubleshoot and design our experiments.
Marcus Ammerlaan - Offered us feedback to troubleshoot our experiments.
Other Support
We are thankful to Dr. Margo Gebbie and Amanda Criss for granting us lab space and equipment in the Undergraduate Science Building. We also would like to thank Cayman Chemical for generously donating to our cause.
