Description

Our goal at this iGEM jamboree is to "improve people's image of E. coli."

For people who are not interested in biology, it is not known that E. coli is very useful.

Although E. coli is generally associated with diseases and other bad images, we selected bacteria used for fermentation of foods that have a good image.

By incorporating the major enzymes of yeast, acetic acid, and lactic acid bacteria, which are of great benefit to us, into E. coli, we thought we could develop E. coli that could produce a variety of fermented foods and create a good image.

In this research, pyruvate formate lyase, an enzyme that produces formic acid in yeast bacteria, was inhibited by an antisense chain, and We chose to incorporate the antisense chain of histidinol dehydrogenase, which can produce a lot of L-lactic acid, making it work the same as lactic acid bacteria, and acetyl coA, which is converted to citric acid, produces vinegar in acetic acid bacteria by conversion to acetic acid.

By incorporating the role of bacteria into E. coli, we can make E. coli have a better image and improve people's image of E. coli.
