Team Overview

Our team consists of 13 students from 5 colleges of South China Agricultural University, including College of Life Sciences, College of Mathematics and Informatics, College of Engineering, College of Veterinary Medicine, and College of Forestry. We work together and each member has his own task. The members of the wet lab are responsible for project design and experiments. The members of the dry lab are responsible for modeling. There are also members in charge of art, finance, and building wiki. In addition, we have five instructors and two former iGEM members who provide us with guidance in experiment, human practice, wiki and so on.

In this competition season, we have experienced many difficulties, but our strong faith allows us together to get through all the difficulties. We sincerely hope that we can contribute some useful biobricks to iGEM and make a slight change for the world!

As the student leader, I am also a member of the Drylab team. I am Mainly responsible for the management of the team, as well as the modeling work such as molecular dynamics simulation and machine algorithm. The best way to predict the future is to invent it.

Huizhen Zou, an undergraduate of Veterinary Medicine, South China Agricultural University. She thinks taking part in the experiments is very interesting. She enjoys coming up with good ideas and optimizing them little by little.

I am Chenkai Guo, an admirer of biology and mathematics, the most exciting thing I find in my life so far is the impact between biology and mathematics. The organic combination of these two arts is what I pursuit in my future life. Hahahaha, actually I also like soccer, like EDM, like anything lovely! And now, I just need to enjoy the feast of synthetic biology in iGEM!

Hello, I'm Kaibin Zhang. In the team, I'm mainly responsible for designing and making devices for fixing Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and assisting other group members to carry out activities. My motto is “make a difference, do something different and meaningful”. Joining iGEM is to do something meaningful to the world with our knowledge.

He is the principal investigator of department of department of biochemistry. His research interests are photosynthesis and photorespiration. Prof. Zhu encourages our team to open the mind and face the challenges. He gives us lots of supports in accomplishment of our whole project including wet, dry and human practice.

Prof. Faqiang Li

Prof. Faqiang Li

He is the principal investigator of department of cell and developmental biology. Prof. Li has great passion on plant autophagy and have made many progresses. He is one of the instructors of SCAU-iGEM team. Prof. Li is a kind teacher, engaged in training of wet-lab group members and help us to accomplish the design of experimental.
