MESEG

Collaborations

This year, we have established great collaborative relations with many teams. The following are the results of our collaborations.

Meetups

Regional Exchange Meeting of Colleges

In April 2021, we participated in the meeting hosted by regional colleges in Guangzhou, including SCAU-China and SCUT-China, SYSU-China, SYSU-Software, SZU-China and SUSTech-China. In the meeting, we reported our preliminary ideas and progress respectively and got many very useful suggestions from other teams. For example, we discussed with SYSU-China about our device and SYSU-Software team about the dry experiments.

South China Meeting

In August 2021, we participated in the iGEMer meeting of South China hosted by Shenzhen University (SZU) with SCUT-China, CHINA-FAFU, SYSU-China, NWU-China and other teams from all over the country In the meeting, we introduced our iGEM project and its progress. Moreover, we decided to establish a stable cooperative relationship with CHINA-FAFU after extensive communication.

CCiC Meeting

In August 2021, we participated in the 8th China Regional iGEMer Exchange Conference (CCiC) hosted by Fudan University (FDU) in Shanghai. Nearly 80 teams from China attended this grand ceremony. We introduced our iGEM project in the section of environmental racing track. In the meeting, we are fortunate to have established a friendly relationship with DUT-China according to the request of each other. After meeting, we provided DUT-China with water samples contaminated by heavy metals.

GDSYZX Meeting

In September 2021, we invited the team of Guangdong Experimental Middle School (GDSYZX) to visit our college and held a meeting with them. In the meeting, we introduced the iGEM project to the students and got some useful suggestions from them. After meeting, we invited them to visit our public laboratory and taught them how to operate the experimental instruments.

Collaborations

With DUT-China

At the CCiC meeting in August 2021, The general direction of our research this year is to use microalgae to degrade heavy metals in sewage. After learning that DUT-China's research direction is to use microorganisms to degrade microplastics in sewage, we found that we are all closely related projects to environmental governance.

Therefore, we have reached a collaborative relationship with DUT-China. The two parties inspire each other's research ideas and exchange information resources in periodic online communication, and each workgroup as a unit, through multi-angle and deep-level collaboration, has jointly harvested a series of results.

The collaboration content of the two teams of HP is: the HP of both parties went to the local sewage treatment plant to conduct on-site investigations, consulted and inspected a series of issues jointly formulated by the two parties; We collected water samples before and after treatment of the sewage plant, DUT-China detects and analyzes indicators such as the content of microplastics in water samples.

To achieve the above collaboration goals better, we have held several online conferences with DUT-China and participated in the CCiC held in Shanghai in August this year.

Please refer to DUT-China.

With CHINA-FAFU and BUCT-China

In October 2021, we together with CHINA-FAFU and BUCT-China held a lecture online to promote popular science education. The topic is "Under the micro, above the life". We introduced the projects of the three teams, the concept of synthetic Biology and the iGEM competition. About 300 people attended the seminar online.
