Our Team
Meet our 2021 iGEM team - consisting of 10 undergraduate students and five instructors. Our team this year has a variety of different backgrounds, ranging from chemical engineering to neuroscience. Ankit Annapareddy
Neuroscience '23
Ankit returned to iGEM for his second year in hopes of having the opportunity to do science hands-on and in-person! He also returned to be able to share science with others around the world.
Ankit enjoys hiking and is also very interested in the newest technological innovations that are created!
Ryan Burrows
Chemical Engineering '22
Ryan joined iGEM to have the opportunity to interact closely with individuals from a variety of majors while expanding his modeling, biology, and design knowledge.
Ryan loves 80’s music, recently started playing guitar, and is left handed! His favorite color is also Crater Lake Blue.
Lizzie Chung
Biology '22
Lizzie continued in iGEM to have the chance to get to know more about synthetic biology, math modeling, and biotechnology regulations. She also continued to collaborate with other iGEM teams and researchers.
Lizzie loves The Phantom of the Opera, biophysics, soccer, cooking, and music.
Lindsay Drumm
Molecular Genetics '24
Lindsay joined iGEM to learn more about genetics while meeting and collaborating with other OSU students.
Lindsay sells professional woodburnings, loves ornithology, playing instruments, and also has a pet parakeet named Newt!
Satvik Kethireddy
Biological Engineering '23
Satvik returned to iGEM for another year because he loves brainstorming new and undiscovered ideas! He also joined to meet others just as interested in synthetic biology as he is.
Satvik loves playing video games and hanging out with his dog.
Saranya Lamba
Molecular Genetics '24
Saranya joined the OSU iGEM team to get to know and learn from other students interested in similar things as herself.
Saranya has danced since she was just four years old! She also enjoys painting in her free time.
Joey Lo
Neuroscience '23
Joey joined iGEM to be a part of a group of individuals just as passionate about synthetic biology as she is!
Joey is originally from Taiwan, enjoys skiing, and loves cooking Japanese and Korean food!
Nathan Meyer
Molecular Genetics & Biochemistry '23
Nate continued in iGEM to learn even more about synthetic biology, and to have hands-on experience of creating and developing a project.
Nate enjoys cooking and reading philosophy. He also is a sports fan and enjoys listening to music!
Lindsey Shimoda
Biological Engineering '22
Lindsey continued in iGEM to have the opportunity to exchange meaningful conversations with professionals and meet other iGEM teams from around the globe.
Lindsey enjoys crafting and making DIY projects. Most of all, she loves to crochet and is currently learning how to knit!
Yingyi Zhu

Yingyi joined iGEM to work on a meaningful project that could be presented to others around the globe!
Yingyi loves watching mystery and suspense movies - she even dreamed of being a detective once!

Dr. Brian Ahmer
Primary PI
Brian continued as the PI as he was looking forward to getting to know even more OSU students that are just as excited about genetic engineering as he is!
Brian has had many hobbies over his life span: rock climbing, windsurfing, car racing, and he used to breed over 20 different kinds of poison dart frogs!
Dr. Jerry Lio
Secondary PI
Jerry recently became an instructor for OSU iGEM in order to participate in helping students learn and grow.
Jerry’s research focus is decoding how the immune system works!
Dr. Anice Sabag-Daigle
Advisor
Anice became an instructor to mentor the next generation of young scientists.
Anice loves the outdoors and often takes her family on outdoor adventures!

Advisor
Erin joined as an advisor as she was a judge for the 2021 Jamboree! She also continued to meet and mentor the new members, along with continuing to foster meaningful relationships with the older members.
Allison Howell
Advisor and iGEM Alumnus
Allison’s favorite part of iGEM is seeing the growth of the student team members as they develop translational skills in research, communication, teamwork, and leadership!
Allison loves mentoring students to help them find their role on the team and improve their self-awareness of their work and communication styles.
Jacob Riina
iGEM Alumnus
Jacob held onto iGEM to become an instructor because he was excited for what projects the returning members would perform.
Jacob is a long-time origami artist, and is currently amazed by DNA origami structures that biophysicists are building.
