[Objective] "Yakult" is a milk drink that is popular all over the world and contains at least 10 billion special active lactic acid bacteria per bottle. The Yakult factory has advanced technology and experience in the separation, preparation and industrialization of probiotics. We visited this time. On the one hand, we wanted to learn more about intestinal probiotics and promote them in science, on the other hand. , I also want to communicate with relevant technical personnel to get advice on intestinal colonization and safety.
[Harvest] The relevant personnel of the Yakult factory explained to us the knowledge of intestinal probiotics, and gave us several suggestions:
1.Intestinal colonization is unnecessary, and the engineered bacteria themselves can stay in the intestines for a long enough time. The effect of colonization in the intestines will increase the risk of human safety instead of extending the residence time. In order to prevent engineered bacteria from being excreted with food or drink and failing to function in time, we initially considered applying intestinal colonization, but under the reminder of Yakult, we will adjust our plan and not carry out intestinal colonization.
2.According to the previous research of Yakult researchers, such a live bacteria preparation does not stay in the human intestine for more than a week, and there is no need to consider the harm to the human body. Since the residence time will not be too long, the probability of causing safety problems is extremely low. This solves the concerns of the target population.
3. It is necessary to consider that the remaining amount of bacteria because gastric acid varies from person to person, which affects the amount of GABA and 5-HTP. This puts forward higher requirements for the control of the amount of GABA and 5-HTP, and let us begin to consider the domestication of engineering bacteria, to make it better resistant to the effects of digestive juices.
This has promoted the progress of our project, allowing us to adjust the project plan and focus more on more important issues.
