Promotion Materials
In order to promote our projects more effectively, we have designed a variety of good-looking and high-quality peripheral products., including canvas bags, post-it notes, notebooks, small mirrors, stickers, and puzzles.
Among these products, our beautiful logo is printed, and the canvas bag contains our brochure. The brochure describes the separation of duties between our wet and dry groups clearly. It introduces the background of the entire project and the realization of the process and purpose of technology. This has increased our promotion. There is also a lovely puzzle, which draws the core idea of our entire experiments, The notebook has a black design, low-key luxury, and the team logo in the lower-left corner uses a flowing color design. The small mirror directly puts our team's logo on the back to highlight the purpose of publicity.

Overview of VIPatent Peripheral Products
VIPatent Puzzle
Sales of our peripheral products in the summer generated revenues of 3592.5 RMB, after deducting the costs of 1,614 RMB. We have successfully earned 1978.5 RMB as net profit.
All of our proceeds were donated to the storm-stricken area in Zhengzhou, Henan, and the unsold peripheral products were donated to the mountainous regions, hoping to contribute a meager power to the society.
Online Promotion Channel-VIPatent Official WeChat Account
VIPatent WeChat official account was established on July 14, 2021, the first day our group got together on-site. In the past month, we have sent a total of 6 tweets, with the highest reading volume of a single tweet nearly 3,000 times. In these six articles, we introduced the patented strain protection technology based on the type VI secretion system effector developed by the team, explained the experimental principles and procedures, and described the significance and benefits of this patent protection technology and various groups of people’s opinions about our team, our project and the associated technology.
The first article in our account received the highest response. We started with an easy-to-understand business story, explaining the basic principles and steps of the patented strain protection technology, such as type VI protein secretion system, PCR, effector, etc.
The following three articles describe some minor details and difficulties in the experiment straightforwardly and rigorously. Experts in biomedicine and law were also invited. They all believed that our subject was valuable and meaningful because it is far more reliable to solve the problem technically than to protect rights in words. The future application prospects are also brighter.
Science Popularization Activities
In order to better allow teenagers, especially children to contact and understand our technology, we held a small workshop at Center of Community Cultural Activity, Tianlin Community, Xuhui District, Shanghai, to teach children our strain patent protection technology.
In the class, we first introduced to the children what patent protection is and its importance. Then, we let the children understand what strains are and their extent to scientists and even the society as a whole. Then we introduced a story to bring the children into the nasty scene of the stolen strain and let them realize that the act of stealing is wrong and the way we maintain our power after being stolen. Finally, we let the children make a jigsaw puzzle to deepen their understanding of our project and make them remember the content of our project.
This event deepened children's understanding of the content of our project and heightened the society's awareness of the importance of bacterial strains' intellectual property rights. As a result, we have successfully expanded our project impact influence and dramatically enriched our promotion activities.

Other Education & Communication Activities
We conducted field research and online questionnaire surveys to fully understand the general public's views on biological patent protection.
We came to a shopping mall at noon on a Friday and randomly asked passing customers questions and recorded them. In the online survey, we collected more than 400 valid questionnaires. We interviewed nearly 500 people in total, of whom the respondents had primary, junior high, high school, undergraduate, and postgraduate education. Among them, there are many high school and undergraduate degrees. Most of the interviewed people only have a basic understanding of intellectual property rights, and all of them have almost no knowledge of intellectual property rights in life sciences. According to statistics, the higher the educational background, the better understanding and supporting intellectual property and patent protection.
After analyzing and investigating, we found that although not everyone has a complete understanding of intellectual property and life sciences, people generally support this type of strain protection technology and are full of confidence in it.
